Official Week 22 Preview:

Once again, we will focus on implications rather than predictions this week. Playoff time is almost here!

#1 Sarnia Tigers- The Tigers look to have a #1 seed sewn up after the tie last week against the Salamis. This week's match-up is much more important for Dub than it is for Sarnia. If the standings stay as they are, this could be a semi-final preview since Dub now sits in the 5 spot.

# 2 Grand Salamis- This game also appears to have little meaning for the Salamis. They are highly unlikely to move up or down. The bye week will be much needed as they try to get some of their main guns back to health.

# 3 Soggy Bottom Boyz- Soggy was able to hold a 5.5 game edge for the 3 spot last week over TKO. Since they face the last place Sportsboys, they should stay where they are. It would take an epic fail from the Salamis for the Boyz to move up this week. The Boyz have officially clinched a playoff spot.

# 4 TKO- TKO has not yet clinched a playoff spot, but since they are 6 games up on 7th place Fud and 6.5 up on current opponent Fuzzy, all they need is a .500 result to clinch. Even a 7-3 type loss will likely be good enough to get them in. An 8-1 loss or worse would spell disaster.

# 5 Dub- Dub is much more comfortable after a big 8-1 win last week. He now sits a full 5 games up on Fud and looks to avoid a blowout loss to secure his spot in the dance. The extra breathing room is vital as Dub prepares for a match-up with the Sarnia juggernaut in the season's final week. Although there are a few possibilities that could see Dub falling short of the playoffs, none seem likely at this point.

# 6 WHIP my FIP- WHIP's big win over the Fuzzies last week was a huge result for their playoff hopes. Now they fully control their own destiny. With both the 7th and 8th place teams facing tough match-ups, and WHIP facing off against 9th place Big League Chew, a win should be good enough to make the dance. They will also have a chance to make it in with a narrow loss. If they lose 7-3 or worse, they will be eliminated.

# 7 Fudpuckers- Sitting 3 games back of the final playoff spot, Fud needs a big win over second seeded Salamis and they need help to overtake WHIP. They certainly face an uphill battle, but they still have a pulse. As we have seen, anything can happen in these weekly match-ups. If the Salamis pitching staff continues to implode, Fud could make a late push.

# 8 Yellowfuzzy- Fuzzy needed a win last week and he didn't get it. His playoff odds are actually slightly better than Fud's because he can overtake his week 22 opponent, TKO, with a lopsided win. Fuzzy would need to win 8-1 or better in order to do that, but such a win would almost assure Fuzzy of a playoff spot. Anything less would likely have Fuzzy on the outside looking in.

# 9 Big League Chew- Big League actually has the best chance of any of the teams on the outside looking in. A 7-3 win over WHIP would assure that they pass WHIP in the standings. As long as none of the teams ahead on them won their match-ups in similar fashion.

# 10 D Dude's Dodgers- After a lopsided loss last week, Dude is now competing with the good Reverend in the Mike Trout sweepstakes. With a 3.5 game lead in the standings, Dude will likely pick third next year, but if the WolfPack gets hot this week, they could play themselves out of the bottom 2.

# 11 Wolfpack- What a difference a week makes. Last week, the Pack was playing for Miggy. Now, after a big win, they could end up overtaking D Dude and losing Trout in the process as well.

# 12 Sportsboys- Sam now has a 3 game lead in the battle for Miggy. He has emerged as the clear front-runner here. Now he faces the Soggy Bottom Boyz in a game that means very little for either team. Barring a lopsided result, these teams are likely to stay where they are.

Been a great season everyone!:suds: Looking forward to seeing how things shake out!

If defense counted in fantasy, Jose Iglesias would be a top-5 first-rounder. :salute:

Good luck to all on the final day of the regular season!

If things end up the way they started today, the playoff seedings will look like this:

1. Sarnia Tigers
2. Grand Salamis
3. Soggy Bottom Boyz
4. TKOut
5. Dub
6. WHIP my FIP

Big League needs to wrest 1 point from WHIP to overtake him. Fud also has an outside chance of making the dance with a good day. Fuzzy would need a miracle at this point.

Good luck to all.

There are 3 weeks left but with teams off this week and the final week, this is the closest we can get to a final roto tally.

Untitled.png

9th & 10th place YellowFuzzy & WolfPack move up several places while DUB & WHIP out your FIP drop into the basement. Sarnia may hold 1st place now but TKOut gets the unofficial honor in the rotor world. Finally Sam jumps from last to 8th leaving Big D to ponder Cabrera or Trout.

That's all folks, see you next year.

Is our draft order for 2014 set now then?
(or does playoffs affect it?)
Just wondering if we should record it somewhere now, if it is in fact set :)
Thanks!!!!

Well, I won't forget how bad I lost, and how bad I sucked, if that is a concern.

Just a general baseball F.Y.I.

Once again, baseball will not be on the Olympics docket when the games go to Japan in 2020.
Tokyo's winning bid was announced on Saturday, and despite the fact that some thought baseball would be reinstated because of the sport's popularity in the host country, the International Olympic Committee on Sunday chose to reinstate wrestling for 2020 over baseball/softball and squash.
Baseball and softball were eliminated from the Olympics in 2005, effective at the '12 games in London.
"While we are obviously disappointed with the decision of the International Olympic Committee to not move forward with baseball and softball for inclusion on the Olympic program in 2020, we continue to believe the combined efforts of baseball and softball provide a great platform for international competition and we look forward to continuing our joint efforts of growing baseball and softball worldwide," said USA Baseball executive director and CEO Paul Seiler. "USA Baseball will continue to promote baseball and softball both internationally and domestically through our various initiatives, and we look forward to the opportunity to return to the Olympic program in the future. In the meantime, we want to thank our partners and fans for their support of our joint efforts."
Wrestling received 49 votes, baseball/softball 24 and squash 22.

Our draft is set, but that draft order also depends on everyone coming back. It was said that if we lose people we would do random. I talked Treff into staying, it's your job to make sure Keven is in as well.

I'll chime in on all those e-mails soon.

Congrats BigDDude. I think the neighborhood will be just fine :)
Will you be enforcing a strict "no mets dugout videos" policy? ;)

LOL Phil. I do not know how this will effect the Mets poster Yoga surfing just yet. I do know that I will not go there to goad or gloat now, and will instead wait for him to have issue with me again to share my new good news with him then.

Funny what you can be given around here, with all you have to do is ask........:yahoo:

Now pitching hitting for Tlance Tlance tlance...................Number 11 11 11 11........................Reverend JIM JIm Jim jim

It's playoff time. Sarnia Tigers & The Big Salami get to rest up this week, watch the box scores and await their opponents.

This weeks matchups:

First up we have the third place Soggy Bottom Boyz vs. WHIP out your FIP.
They split this season winning one game each making this the rubber game. On the mound the Boyz 8 starts this week to FIP's 6, and FIP has one more closer. Based upon pitching matchups and season numbers, The Boyz should take K's & Wins while FIP should take the saves category. WHIP & ERA could go either way and could come down to The Boyz weekend starters.
On paper the Boyz have the advantage in every hitting category with the exception of batting average. FIP is looking to lock up steals by inserting pitch runner Billy Hamilton in his lineup, combine that with Harper out with a hip injury and The Boyz have even more of an advantage. This should be close, but I expect constant sorrow for WHIP out your FIP.

Final Score: Soggy Bottom Boyz 6 - WHIP out your FIP 3

Next we have 4th place TKOut taking on 5th place DUB. DUB lost thier first matchup but came back with a fury and almost shut out TKO in the second contest. DUB has 6 starts this week to TKO's 7. Give how close the season stats are, all 4 pitching categories should be up for grabs. TKO should come away with saves this week given how shaky DUB's bullpen has been of late.
Hitting is a different story. TKO has a clear advantage in HR's, RBI's & BA. Steals should favor DUB but with their biggest SB threat in a walking boot, stolen bases could be up for grabs along with Runs.
This one's gonna be close.

Final Score: TKOut 5 - DUB 4

If those scores hold True, next weeks contest will feature Sarnia Tigers vs TKOut and The Grand Salami vs. The Soggy Bottom Boyz.

Sorry, No Bourbon Bowl Coverage (maybe later time permitting)
The long and short of it is.......The WolfPack are taking it all.:yahoo:
