Well I'm fine with the thing being completely random. . So I'll be happy with whatever ya'll want.

For the Prospect League, yes. Not for the A league.
This is the honest to god truth: As I sat there thinking "man does this suck" when my interwebz took a shit I started wondering where I'd be drafting in the B league next year, then I thought about the problem we would have with 2 leagues. I think your solution would work but I would hate to think we would have teams tanking just for draft position...........I got the number one pick but dammit, I earned it!Did not want to post this before the draft since we all had other things on our minds, but we have an issue to address:
Last year, our draft order was determined by reverse order of regular season standings. With teams changing leagues at season's end, that is not really going to work. No longer can the last place team get awarded the first pick, because they will be in a new league. Here is an idea I want to suggest:
Instead of reverse order of standings, we create a draft slot selection process for each league.
For the A league, the lowest ranked team remaining based on regular season rankings would get first dibs on selected their draft position (could be anywhere from 1-12). From there, the rest of the teams would pick their slot in order of finish. The only question would be whether to slot the risers from the Prospect League at the end, or somewhere in the middle of the selection process. My suggestion would be to have them pick right before the A league top teams (9th and 10th?, 5th, 6th, 9th and 10th if 4?).
For the Prospect league, we would go the opposite direction. Good teams that miss on getting moved up would get first selection along with teams demoted from the A league.
Something like:
1. Top team not moving up
2. 2nd place team not moving
3. best A league team demoted
4. 2nd best A league team demoted
5. 3rd best Prospect league team
etc, etc.
What do you guys think? The Prospect league would have to be set-up differently to give bottom dwellers reason to compete. Otherwise, we could see tanking and dump trades in the Prospect League.
Thoughts?

tlance, I like your proposal on the draft. This being my first year and first with two "leagues" I am still wrapping my head around things. Also, how do I tell if I am in the "A" or "prospect"?
All I wanna know is, when I win the prospect league, do I move up to the A-League?
Yes.
Relegation policies are listed in detail on the league constitution and on page 113 in this thread, but the champ and the top seed from the regular season are guaranteed to move up.
Sounds good to me.
Lol! You are cocky, aren't ya? Kinda reminds me of...well, me!
Keep an eye on Morneau. From what I hear, he can be a pain in the neck. Who are you up against in the first round?
Watching Met-Cards, and this St. Louis guy pitching, I think his name is Bruce Wainwright, looks pretty good. He just might make the club.
So looks like Milk and I get to put our pitchers head to head to start the season. What a great matchup to begin with.
