I had three relievers by the time I settled on Masterson for an "ace." Normally I stay away from starters and outfielders early. Since I broke my outfielder code, I stuck by my starter code and then some.

after taking an CarGo in the first, I couldn't pass up D Wright at 21. Then when I came up again at 28 who could pass up the HRs of G Stanton, and again Puig at 45. Now my OF is almost done and it was still early.

I can only recall this happening once last season. As long as you are paying attention when setting your lineup, the only thing that will get you in trouble is multiple injuries to your starting pitching.

I think only 1 team missed this last year, and that's only because they never set their roster. It's not that scary, if you figure 5 starters at 6 innings each, that's 30 innings so all you need is another 2 from your other 3 RP/P guys. We have a 40 minimum in my keeper league (daily moves), and each person averages over 60. Don't sweat it.

Happened once last year.

Usually, if you fall short, you would have lost most pitching cats anyway or you just didn't set your line-up.

4 SPs averaging 6 Ininngs + 4 RPs averaging 2 will get you there.

I just would not recommend starting more than 3 RPs unless you have a couple 2 start pitchers.

Or, flipping the script, if you are not in and in early with answers/responses around here, you are left with little but looking for the "I agree" smiley.

Or the "thumbs up" option.

Did not want to post this before the draft since we all had other things on our minds, but we have an issue to address:

Last year, our draft order was determined by reverse order of regular season standings. With teams changing leagues at season's end, that is not really going to work. No longer can the last place team get awarded the first pick, because they will be in a new league. Here is an idea I want to suggest:

Instead of reverse order of standings, we create a draft slot selection process for each league.

For the A league, the lowest ranked team remaining based on regular season rankings would get first dibs on selected their draft position (could be anywhere from 1-12). From there, the rest of the teams would pick their slot in order of finish. The only question would be whether to slot the risers from the Prospect League at the end, or somewhere in the middle of the selection process. My suggestion would be to have them pick right before the A league top teams (9th and 10th?, 5th, 6th, 9th and 10th if 4?).

For the Prospect league, we would go the opposite direction. Good teams that miss on getting moved up would get first selection along with teams demoted from the A league.

Something like:

1. Top team not moving up
2. 2nd place team not moving
3. best A league team demoted
4. 2nd best A league team demoted
5. 3rd best Prospect league team
etc, etc.

What do you guys think? The Prospect league would have to be set-up differently to give bottom dwellers reason to compete. Otherwise, we could see tanking and dump trades in the Prospect League.

Thoughts?

Well, you sure on top of things sir, and quick. And, I think your ideas so far are in the right direction as far as how to draft in upcoming years. I also very much like the part about being able to pick your draft spot, as like being in the middle as much as I like having the # 1 pick, so I can see how this would help me anyway.

I just know the situation is in very good and capable hands.....
