Wheaton competing for targets with DHB and Green now, that was a turnoff for me.
That, and he didn't really do a whole lot with the WR2 role in PIT up to this point, not sure I see that changing a whole lot.
At least not as of now.

As great as Heath Miller was as a TE, he saw very few targets and even less TD. Heath simply did not get used. And now Ladarius Green (who couldn't even beat out the fossil Antonio Gates for targets) comes in to replace a stud like Miller? Sorry, but I don't see that happening either.

I'm not saying Wheaton will be a stud. But he'll see more targets than Green. Easily.

I don't think Wheaton is a stud either, but I view him as a safe bye week replacement. I don't need much from him

IMO - sorry, just wrong - Wheaton didn't do crap with his opportunity last yr and he is not near the target as Green. Tomlin and company saw something in Green or he wouldn't be there. ....

Or maybe you have scouts in the NFL that think like Foot (no offense) who think that speed, size, and college career is an automatic knighting to NFL success.

The Steelers generally make some good moves so there may be some merit to Lefty's point. But just comparing Heath to Ladarius, I can't bring myself to think Green will be better.

Funny, I'm right there in the middle with a great big "if".

IF, Wheaton can win and hold the#2 job, and that's where I have my doubts, but if he can, then I'd agree with Joe that he'd get quite a bit more action than Green. But like I said, I don't think he will/can

I dont compare Heath to Ladarius.
Heath was a blocking TE that could sneak into some open spaces.
Green is a size/speed freak.
Steelers have been very good recently (much like the patriots) in changing their game plan week to week, pending their opponents' strength/game situation.
I could see Green utilized as a slot receiver a la Jimmy Graham (saints JG, not seahawks JG).
Then he'd easily surpass Wheaton in targets.

The uncertainty was enough for me to steer clear in a suicide format.

Also Steelers basically red shirted Sammy Coates last year. Now I would think he gets a chance to show what he can do. If he does well then yet another receiver competing for targets. Wheaton is just kind of a blue collar WR, works hard with his limitations. Good player to have around in a pinch. Worth a bye week fill in.

Let me take you back to round 7
I decided it was Fleener or a 4 th Wr
I took the 4th Wr Mathews
I figured only Lefty and Ram may take Fleener
Well Ram did and Lefty made 2 pick after me without a TE. Maybe he would have grabbed Fleener

Ok move to round 8.
The DF were starting to go so I figured with Fleener gone and a bunch of Qbs in the same range I might as well
Grab my D and hope the run continues

Ok round 9

I need a TE and a Qb but as much as I really know about young talent (not much)
and still the same gang available at Qb less Brady lets grab TE Green (if Pgh believes why can't I)

Ok Round 10

surprise suprise
I look ahead and I want Rivers or Eli or Romo
well I count on Monkey who picks twice before me to grab 1
but everyone else picking in between has one so I bank on maybe one guy grabbing a backup Qb.

So I take a 2nd DF.

However 1 guy grabs a backup Qb ok no prob

BUT BOTH!!

When will I learn

so here I go.

It's round 11 and 14 QBs are gone

Please Ryan return to form

Maybe I'll head to Hotlanta and remind him that my son Ryan's fave Qb is him Ryan
and Julio is on my team

Outwitted and outsmarted BarilkEE

Takes Matty Ice Ryan Qb Atlanta

@averagejoe enjoy your day off and a little look into the mind of a Northern FF GM

and please fix the list for me

Oh I knew there'd be some statistic to prove the point - yet big bodied Bryant was a big part of that - he ain't there this yr.

As to Wheaton, what we saw of him last year, his 3rd year, during Bryant's suspension, soured me on him quite a bit. I think he did better as the #3, whether it's working out of the slot, or the quality of DB's that covered him as the #3, or a combination of both, I'm not sure. But I don't really think he's got #2 stuff. Would rather gamble on the other guy.

I like Coates, which, coincidentally was a subject of some rants after I traded for him in dynasty. Wheaton is just a guy, imo.

Oh I knew there'd be some statistic to prove the point - yet big bodied Bryant was a big part of that - he ain't there this yr.

12 of BigBen's 21 passing TDs last year were within the 10yd line.
TEs got 3 of them.
Wheaton also got 3 of them.
Bryant laid a goose egg from inside the 10.
Antonio Brown received the other 6 TDs from inside the 10yd line last year.

does a healthy LeVeon flip the script and turn more of those drives into rushing TDs instead of short passing TDs?

still gonna say its a guessing game right now who gets the bump with Bryant gone for a year, but PIT will be scoring, so someone will be very fantasy relevant receiving option besides Brown.
