Mayhew was relieved of his duties on Thursday by owner Martha Firestone Ford, after 15 years with the team.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve this organization, this community and the Ford family. I wish the team the absolute best this season and in the future."

Really? What a fucking asshole. Thanks, Martin. The absolute best this team can finish is 9-7, and that's good enough to get us nothing but a middle round pick next year. How about an apology?

I have to commend Mayhew for going out with class. After all, it isn't his fault the Fords put him in a position he couldn't handle.

I'd take the job.

Over promising to re-sign Suh, then groveling at Suh's feet, begging him to come to his senses was about the un-classiest and pathetic things I've seen a GM do.

You can get away with that "we will let him test the open market" crap with mid level players and have them come back and sign for cheaper. You don't play that shit with your best player.

He knew his life was over without Suh. It was still pathetic tho. Mayhew, Lewand and the Lions never learned that you don't win games in the headlines.
