If Hue leaves to become a HC somewhere, you think he will drag Vance Joseph with him to make him his defensive coordinator?

Whoever gets that package of coaches will be very happy with their hire within 3 years I think.

Still think Jacksonville is the most logical landing spot, at least the smart move for both Hue and Jax considering what he will be starting with.

Again, I'm enjoying the season. This is something to worry about in Jan/Feb.

Jacksonville has no chance in hell of doing anything. Hue went to a train wreck in Oakland and wasn't given much of a chance after the Palmer trade (meanwhile Palmer is doing well in Arizona). Hue will not set himself up for failure again, much like Dick Lebeau never became head coach again after he was run into the ground here and made a scapegoat for our poor scouting and cheapness at the time.

What do you mean setting himself up for failure? Jacksonville is loaded with young offensive talent and a QB with all the measureables you want in a franchise QB. But he needs to learn how to work defenses, and be a student of the game. Hue can really help him with that. Tons of young offensive talent, just needs refined.

Plus, if he takes Joseph with him he will bea step up because Joseph is one hell of a teacher of the game. It won't be like the Chuck Bresnahan DC he had in Oakland. Bresnahan was terrible, we know that first hand. Joseph is a different animal though. Bresnahan was like a sloth, and Joseph is like a sleek, beautiful Jaguar. You see what I did there? haha :)

Who is this young offensive talent on the Jags? Aside from Bortles, I dont think I can name one player on their team.

Assuming his contract isn't up, Vance Joseph isn't going anywhere. The Bengals have the right to refuse his movement unless he becomes a head coach. They already demonstrated that they would do this when they blocked him from the Denver DC position this offeseason.

I'm guessing this is particularly tough for Joseph given the talent on that squad. He'd be the hottest (untested) coaching candidate this offseason.

I thought you could only block if it was a lateral move. Not if it is a promotion. How does that work? Seems like a secondary coach to a DC would be a huge promotion, just as huge from a coordinator to a HC position.

Bortles
Yeldon
Thomas (Julius)
Hurns
Robinson
Blackmon (if he can keep from getting suspended)

That is a heck of a lot of quality young talented offensive players that just need to learn how to play together better, and get an offensive line to actually block long enough for the QB to get the ball to his play makers.

I think you can block any move other than HC. If not teams would find loopholes like stealing an OC and claiming it's a promotion by adding a title like "Assistant Head Coach" to the job description.

Generally speaking teams let coaches moveup the coordinator jobs. It's a bad look and probably hurts in the future when trying to get qualified candidates at position coach when you block them. GB is an exception.. I think they're know to keep coaches on their staff from taking promotions with other teams

you can point to any team in the NFL and say they have good players. If your team has holes, and you don't have any intention of filling the holes, then you still aren't going to have a winning team. they will borrow from peter to pay off paul and go broke in the process. Jacksonville is 1-5, so you can pretty much stop right there. Last year someone was raving about how the Lions were on the cusp of winning the superbowl. they are also 1-5 in spite of talent at certain positions. when you're team has holes, it has holes and you can't patch those holes by creating holes in other places and expect to win.

yeah not exactly my definition of loaded offensive talent
Allen Robinson is a #1 WR, Hurns is putting up very similar numbers to Green right now (not saying he is as good, but he is good), Marqise Lee, Julius Thomas, TJ Yeldon, Blackmon if he stops being a moron, Bortles. They have a lot of talent, but their fan base is terrible and I'm not sure it's where I'd want to be if I was a coach. Hue's name has already been tied to Miami and I'd put them in the lead for him.

I think Dan Campbell winds up getting the full time gig in Miami.

It's not a sexy pick and the fans would hate it, but I think Eric Mangini would be a really good choice for the Dolphins job

I'll take your word on Robinson and Hurns because I know you know more about them then me. I dont watch too much of the Jaguars. I do know that Bortles has a crazy Pick 6/Games Played ratio. When was the last time Blackmon even played, I'm not sure he should count.

Jacksonville players help round out fantasy teams, but their team is not well rounded. they benefit yearly from having a bottom feeders schedule.

Just stop with the Hue coaching Jacksonville talk, he's obviously learned his lesson from going to Oakland.

If you say so. I can't Imagine him not going for a HC job as he interviewed last year with Buffalo before they decided on Rex. He is actively seeking a HC position, and this year may have solidified him getting that position back again.
