hey is this old news and if so is there a thread on here about it so i can catch up with the story

I was working away and half listening to the radio and heard an interview with Max Talbot from Pittsburgh radio ... it went kinda like this

radio guy : "blah blah blah"
Talbot : "blah blah blah"
radio guy : "blah blah blah"
Talbot : "blah blah blah"
radio guy : "blah blah blah"
Talbot : "blah blah blah"
radio guy : "blah blah blah"
Talbot : "Ovechkin is a real douche"

it was an interview on the X this morning and they asked him about how he felt about Ovie...he didn't go into detail (and really he mumbled that), but said it was because of their first encounter OFF ice. He said Geno introduced them, then he wouldn't say what exactly happened, but that he just was 'a real douche'. which in russian means 'big star' hahaha.

seriously if THAT'S how they were introduced, i'd call OV a dickwad too. i mean, max is sort of well known around the league. i mean, sure, OV doesn't need to know every guy on the pens roster, but Max is pretty darn recognizable.

TSN had a special on the best agitators in the game, and Barnaby was saying that he used to ask 4th liners to turn around so he could read their sweater and actually know who he was fighting.
also offered to let them wash his car for some extra dough, as AHL paychecks aren't that great.
it was a pretty amusing segment.

I'm pretty sure that Ovechkin knew who Talbot was....he was just being a douche...

there's some guy who claims that OV can't be douche because he's a 'rockstar' and 'rockstars can't be douches'. sir, he's a hockey player, and i beg to differ: rockstars are often the biggest of the douches. of course said man said this all after claiming that he's not an extremely knowledgable hockey fan, and really just likes Ovie. someone's just digging themselves a hole.

i agree, if you listen to it max mumbles it, and obviously the guys were drawing it out of him. the funny thing is, every fan complains that guys like Sid or...i dunno Iggy, are 'boring interviews' because they say what they're supposed to, but then someone is honest and 'interesting' and suddenly everyones offended. AO does have 'douche-like' tendencies (the way he dresses ((it's really a russian culture difference)) and acts with women and driving...overall disrespectful i guess), but players aren't supposed to say that.

I am just saying that even if he was a dick to Talbot or whatever, it is not even a drop in the bucket of this growing rivalry. I have seen Talbot out and about and he is pretty "out there". It is possible that in the setting, ovechkin did not recognize him and Max may be taking it too seriously.


Also, it is Tim Benz so it could just be pushing the story.

I actually like Talbot so whatever, it does not change my opinion on either. I am just glad we have a real rivalry for quite some time.

benz could be pushing it...but i mean, if geno malkin comes up to you and goes, "Hey, this is my friend Max Talbot" *in russian* i feel like Ovie could've been trying to be funny, or just trying to be a jerk.

now, with many players i'd agree...and i agree it's not the BEST idea to say these things on the radio...however, it's max talbot i would bet a LOT of money that he's said that and more to ovechkin in game.
