Monte Ellis has just killed us and it is a three and the Lakers are down by 7. The Lakers haven't scored a basket in nearly 7 minutes.

15 T.O.s for the Lakers and the Lakers are now down by 9 and that about does it for our 46th loss.

Mentally, the Lakers go in the tank at about the 6 minute mark of the fourth. We are just totally different at that point in the fourth and we lose.

Amini has stolen the ball 6 times. Clarkson is the latest victim.

They say that players don't tank, front offices do. If you watched the end of this, you'd say that statement is clearly false the way the team let this game slip away.

On the positive side, the T-Wolves won last night. Bring on the 3 slot!

Yep, Turkey. We are flirting with the three spot and if Minnesota and Philly continue to win, we may end up in the two slot. Yippeeee!!!

Typical 4th quarter....

amazing to me how the Lakers...ESPECIALLY after the all-star break...hang with most teams they play but can never seem to finish nearly consistent enough. but then the reason for that is mostly lack of talent...

Apparently no closer or closer mentality.

^^^THIS^^^

Something like half of the Lakers 46 losses have been by 6 points or less. They don't have any "go to" guys at the end of those games. It's also why teams can sometimes go on long runs on them (like the Mavs 19-1 run last night), they don't have that guy who can put a stop to it by hitting shots or getting to the free throw line. Clarkson appears to have that kind of potential, but it needs to be developed.

That's where Kobe being out may be a blessing in disguise. Even at 36, a healthy Kobe probably makes a difference in enough of those games to cost them a possible lottery pick.

Yep, everything is proceeding as we all want and the Lakers will come away with four good picks this year.

it's still about establishing a winning culture around here. hoping the off-season and maybe the draft can get some players in with the kind of mindset you're talking about. and let's hope someone we get has the Kobe "killer instinct"...

True and Byron is instilling that winning culture which is why we see the Lakers playing hard every game and why, with as bad as their record is, they've done a pretty good job of hanging around in most of their games. That "killer instinct" can be developed in a guy that seems to have it.

Clarkson has shown that he isn't afraid to try to step up in those close games. Kobe developed into the closer that he became, but early in his career, he failed at it quite a bit. Clarkson seems to have some of that in him, but it's likely going to take a couple of years to develop, just like it did with Kobe.
