It's early in the season, but Jones is putting up some numbers in Detroit. Maybe I (and others) overestimated how much playing across from AJ was helping him.
And the Lions are also 1-2.
More than likely, he's just getting all the targets that would have went AJ and EIferts way.maybe he's finally getting coached correctly.
205 yards, in a loss. And the Lions are also 1-2.
In the two losses, the defense had multiple opportunities to prevent scores by both Pitt and Denver if they knew how to hold onto a ball. In each game, the other team scored after the defense failed (in some cases more than once on a drive) to catch an INT.
Pitt game, I counted at least 4 or 5 potential turnovers that were missed/dropped.
Denver game, on the same drive, in which they scored a TD....Early on the drive, I'd say within the first 2-3 plays, Semien was rushed, and threw a duck of a pass in which Vinney Rey jumped backwards knocking a sure INT away from a waiting Ray M. Later on the drive, near the goal (maybe inside the 35 yardline?) Shawn Williams has an INT simply go right through his hands. Denver would later score on that drive. Two missed opportunies.
It also has not helped that as the offense continues to struggle to run the ball, the defense has probably spent more time on the field than it should. Eventually, the defense is going to break. The offense has to be able to sustain drives, get field position, and help out the defense. Something it has not done yet this year, IMO.
I don't think so, because as you mentioned in another post, the running game had already slipped last year to 13th. That despite the fact that AJ, Eifert, Jones, and Sanu were all healthy and present nearly the entire year. If anything the running game should have flourished by this thought, and yet it slipped. Maybe some of it was on Hill, but Gio had a very solid season. And the failures in the running game have nothing to do with the fact that we don't have a 2nd receiver to stretch the field?
Couldn't agree more about the play calling, as you stated, seem to be passive as if trying not to get beat instead of going out there and making a play to win the game.I agree with a lot said here..... There were a lot of fluky plays in the Denver game that made Semien look better than he will really be. Don't get me wrong - The kid looks like he's going to be a solid pro for a long time..... But we need to pick off those passes. It changes the game completely. We also can't give up a 50 yard bomb on a third and long. It just doesn't make sense. And as pointed out in another thread, the D calls have been strange - I haven't seen any of the 3rd down aggressiveness that used to define Zimmer (and Guenther). It looks like Chuck B. is coaching us again.
Yep. If you're cramping that much, you need to get some tampons or drink more fluids. It's not rocket science. Remember when Ocho would cramp every game? Dude just didn't drink enough fluids. Morons. To be fair, if Adam Jones wasn't injured on every 4th play, scheming wouldn't be nearly as difficult..... The only reason why Lewis Harris was out there was because Jones had vaginal cramping for the 10th time that day.
