The sad part about the passing game last night is that the passes Taylor DID COMPLETE were poorly thrown where a reciever had to slow down for it. If Taylor would've had a good throw most of those deep balls could've been straight TD passes...but when Taylor tries to lead the WR he usually ends up overthrowing him 10-15 yards

Right now a good pass is one that is caught, and by the right team. Over throwing could be the passer, or the receiver not getting off the DB early enough. Under throws... sometimes they are on purpose.

ETA: I did not see one pass that was "10-15 yds" over thrown. many were just off the finger tips, or into close coverage.

Taylor's numbers would have been so much better, and Fresno wouldn't have gotten that punt return if BK didn't have shit for hands.

I maybe overreacting to Taylors overthrows. I know Kinnie dropped at least 3 yesterday and Jamal Turner got his arms up late on one play, but there were throws where it was completely off and guy had the DB beat by at least 3 yards.

There were a few, but some of the big ones were spot on.. including that one that Turner flapped at

Taylor played well yesterday, and his 160 rushing yards balance out a few arrid throws, IMO

Also, the way we were scoring in the red zone, I'd rather have him under throw balls that can still be caught, than overthrow and not move the chains

I agree. Martinez is not a great or a pretty passer but he is good enough to mix it in when we need it. He made a couple of nice 40 yarders. Yeah if they were beautiful and right on the mark the wide receiver would of went ahead for a touchdown. But they put us in the red zone or near the red zone and every time we got in the red zone we scored.

There have been a lot of changes from last year to this year also. I think even though things may of looked better last week they hopefully learned a lot more this week.

Taylor was mainly the reason for the first half failures, bad decisions, bad passes and dropped balls. He was also mainly responsible for the 4th quarter surge. Decent passes, great runs and good decisions.

That to me means growth. Let's see what this game and a week of practice does.

haters can hate Taylor but for the ones who like Green remember this Green couldn't beat out Taylor the last two years. That why Green has moved on and his play was never really all that impressive when he did play. You can say the husker fans who support Taylor that we look through rose colored glasses but to say Green is better than Taylor then you are blind! Taylor has playmaking skills that Green dreamed of having. The Oline and dline are bigger issues than QB play.

who the fuck said green is better?? hes not even on the damn team???

Our season went down the shitter when he got injured last year. I hope he stays healthy this year. Slide or get out of bounds but just don't get hurt.

^^this^^

For a sophomore he's improving and right now he's it. There is no reliable depth. I imagine he's being advised to go down or take it out of bounds (once he moves the chains). He actually did put his pads down and take a few shots yesterday.

He lacks the long ball (rcvrs must slow down) and will likely never have it. He's getting more comfortable with the 10 - 15yd passing game.

He's growing up a bit..

He's been told to slide. I don't get it, are people not remembering what happened when he got injured last year?

If he goes down, our season is SHOT. Book it. Carnes is talented but he isn't half the QB Martinez is right now.

yeah, that's the key I noticed yesterday.....He's taking the hits when he needs to but when the chains are already moved he's avoiding contact by giving up an extra half yard......

I have no problems with him doing that at all.....

I will add though there was that one time late in the game and he fell down to avoid a sack on 3rd and long that I was pissed at him for doing that.....

If he's got time to decide to fall down to avoid the sack, just throw it away.....

Sliding is good. I am also pleased with seeing him putting both arms around the ball before contact.

3 posts now.

I am sure you couldn't name more than a couple Nebraska QB's anyway, so your opinion is actually moot.

jarhunter is of the rare breed of Husker haters in "Omaha". ;)

The transplant who constantly bitches and moans about the amount of Nebraska football coverage he's forced to listen to and watch, yet will take the time to read and post on it's message boards. LOL

Definitely. One play he got hit and it popped up into his chest area but he was able to pull it back in because he had two hands on it.

That in itself is exponential growth.
