I inherited this gun from my dad when he passed.
I don`t know much about it,other than that my mom(who has passed as well) bought it for my Dad back in 1960-62(?) as a wedding or 1st/2nd year anniversary present.
Its in great condition and all,but I can not find a model number on it at all.

I`m just looking to find out what year it exactly is.I don`t even know if she bought this new at the time.
and what type of value it has.
and not that I`ll sell it,sorry pawn stars, you`re not jipping me.But will eventually be inherited by son someday.

Any help on finding a model number or anyother info would be sweet.........Thanks

It has a ton of meaning.........I`ve never been into hunting, shooting range or just even having a gun,but my Dad was.Over the years,he had a nice small collection, but had sold them cause us kids never wanted them.
Now I wish I would have said I was interested in them.
When he was dying(cancer) he had 2 left, the other a double barrel Remington, being I told him that I wasn`t interested,he gave to his best buddy(an avid gun collector).
I`m actually hoping now, that whn his best buddy`s time is nearing, maybe just maybe,he`ll hand it back to the family.

I guess things a person has/had no desire for in life, actually turns into something different, when someone goes.............

I`m just glad I have the one.......it will be forever cherished.

Is it a lever gun? If it is the model would be a 39A. Pistol Grip stock or strait hand stock? 24" or 20" Barrel?

I've got a small collection of 39's from a first year production gun with oct. bbl, and case harden receiver. A 39A Mountie 20" bbl with strait hand stock, 39A golden, and 39D a pistol grip 20" bbl. I'm still looking for the 39A first model and 39A second model they only did them for one year each. The 39A 1st model and a squared lever, case hardened receiver and round bbl, the 2nd model had round lever, case hardened receiver and round bbl. By the third year they ran out of the case hardened receiver and they went to the blued receiver.

Marlin Original Golden 39A : Lever Action Rifles at GunBroker.com

You will enjoy the 39A a lot. They are great shooters. I just picked up a 2nd year built 39A at a gun show this week! One of the hardest to find. Now I just need the 1st year production 39A and I'll will complete my collection of 39's.
