People keep comparing the Alex Smith trade to Donovan McNabb trade....

Fair comparison..

A closer comparison is the Mark Brunell trade. They are eerily similar if you look into it.

Will probably have similar results as well.

Neither trade comparison is fair. Both McNabb and Brunel had some success in less than perfect places. Smith never has.

So you think the outcome will be worse then both Mcnabb and Brunell?

I'd like to put his acquisition somewhere between the 2 but its really such a dice roll and will ultimately be weighing semantics of something that in the end is irrelevant anyway.

For what its worse I think Smith will turn out better then Mcnabb but worse then Brunell. It will all mean nothing in the end though.

Dude - just make the switch & become an Eagles fan already. This is really getting old. We get it - some folks don't like the Smith trade. OK - but it is done already - deal with it. Neither he nor Allen nor Snyder are going anywhere. I am trying to make the best of this.

I don't root for this team so I can say "I told you so" or to prove any predictions or how I would run the team. I also root through thick & thin & - although I may criticize & have my issues - I stay loyal regardless. It sounds like some on here almost hope that this trade goes bad for whatever reason. Good Lord. Again - Smith is nowhere near as bad as you & some others portray.

McNabb? OMG - that guy sucked royally when he was on the Skins & often had the issue of confusing WRs feet w/ their hands based on his horrible throws. He also was a pain in the ass off the field & to this day I can't stand the guy. I guess Smith could be as bad, but I doubt it.

Oh well - I am hoping for the best - let's just wait & see what happens. Please keep posting your gloom & doom threads. HTTR

In a way. McNabb was 5-8 when he was benched and had been sacked 37 times. We were coming off a four win season and weren’t set up real well. We gave up a second and a fourth for him.

Brunell was injured in 2004 but led the Skins to a 10 win season in 2005. We gave up a third to get him.

Both McNabb and Brunell have had success on teams that weren’t exactly built well. Alex Smith has not had success on any team without a good running game and a good defense. He is too risk averse to make tough passes to win games. He is the type of QB that plays not to lose which is great if you don’t need to score to win. We gave up far more for Smith than we did for Brunell or McNabb.

Jason Campbell was so incredibly bad that Mcnabb was actually an upgrade... I've never disliked watching a QB more than J.C.

I've come to the following conclusions over the last couple months

1) Redskins fans are dumb

or

2) Redskins fans are just sheep who could be sold shit covered in perfume.

Probably a combination of both but I tend to lean towards the #1 factor.

There were fans who after the last 25 years who actually didnt throw 100% support behind Cousins is inexcusably stupid.

These same fans AND more are cool or are tolerating this trade that essentially means:

Cousins, Fuller, 3rd round pick

for

Alex Smith

Complacency is for the birds. Fans who have the "what are you ganna do about it" mindset with this type of management and trade have contributed just as much to this losing culture as Snyder and Allen...

This would not be tolerated in Pittsburgh or Green Bay or NE or pretty much 25 or so other fan bases. The phones should be blowing up, the boards should be lighting up, social media should be on fire.. Management needs to hear, understand, and feel the discontent.

Fans are just being bitches and buying the spin... but thats what is happening because of #1 above.

Daniel Snyder is not the type of owner who is going to make decisions because "social media is blowing up." keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better, though

The wonder of Snyder is, he finds new and exciting ways to make the same old plan look different enough that you almost buy in.

IM hoping the Smith thing is actually different, but we have seen this before. Free agency should be interesting, and by the time training camp starts the hype train will be running on all cylinders for some.

As for the fan base, it has taken years to change the fan base into what it is without driving most of the long time fans off. Its brilliant from a marketing/money stand point.
