Big 4 game series w/ the Angels... Angels have lost 10 straight, which concerns me... We need to come out of Anaheim w/ a 3-1 series win at least...

5.5 behind Texas for the Division

2 games out of the WC Spot...

Angels due for a hot streak, no matter how bad they've been. But hoping the M's just stay steady and take 3 of 4.

Trout has been cold as ice. Loves hitting of Felix, so that's not so good. But he has struggled against Kuma and Paxton, so that is good.

Felix had to throw a lot of pitches in the first. No damage, but hopefully he can be more efficient in the next few innings.

I don't know what's wrong with Felix, but he sure does not seem to have any confidence. That's the second time he's had a favorable 2 strike count on Trout and both times once he got to 2 strikes he never threw another pitch in the strike zone. He did the same with Pujols in his first at bat too.

Trout pretty much owns Felix, so it wasn't a surprise that he got on base 3 times against him in this game. The fact that he got on 3 times and only one run came of it means that Felix did his job by limiting the production of the guys around him in the lineup... for the most part. I'm sure he'd like to have a couple of those Pujols at-bats back.

This is a hot streak, and if it keeps ups we will be in a good spot come end of September. However to stay this hot will be tough, just keep beating inferior teams and teams that have already called it. Then battle the tough ones.

Gotta love (these guys) what we have been seeing lately, it's fun again!

Felix gave up the obligatory bomb to Trout but other than that (and a few walks), I thought he was outstanding. What was it -- 7 straight batters K'd at one point? Not sure I've ever seen anyone do that before.

.382 lifetime against Felix with about a 10% chance to knock a homer. Yah, pretty crazy against a pitcher of Felix's caliber... especially in some of those years where Felix was 100% and in his prime.

If Felix has added a cutter, as Blowers was suggesting last night, and he is making it work, he could get on one of his rolls where we reels off 10-12 straight quality starts with a few ultra quality starts mixed in.

The Red Sox got lucky last night. But now they have to play two games in Baltimore followed by four games in Detriot. And their best starter this year, Stephen Wright, just went on the DL. The timing is ripe for the Mariners to make a move on the second wild card.
