I think he is letting Jerry off the hook. Not saying the ownership group is great or absolving them of fault, but with how young and cheap the core is/was, they gave Jerry more than enough money to at least make the WS. He has just made bad trades and spent the money poorly. This offseason is 100% on Jerry Mitch Haniger being on the team is squarely on Jerry not wanting to trade one of his prospects. Ownership should give more money, but Jerry also can’t hog all of his prospects or hold onto to every SP.

He has built the number 1 farm system in baseball twice, and we saw last time half of prospects were nothing, so it’s safe to assume the same will happen with this group.

IMO he could’ve killed this offseason but chose to run it back instead of going out on a limb and traded Gilbert or Kirby which could’ve filled two starting positions as well as making a top prospect available to package with Haniger for one of the Marlins bullpen arms.
