But you and I both know they won't.If we aren't going to build a winner with money while we still have this staff, then maybe dealing Julio for 3 bats might be the answer. You could easily attach a Haniger contract with that. It would be a huge risk of course, but that is what teams like Seattle have to do when they set unreasonable cap on spending.
Boston has #3, 7, 10 Top 100 Prospects. Throw in Casas and Duran and make a deal.
Detroit has #5, 6. Throw in Greene or Carpenter.
Baltimore has #8, 13. Throw in Mullins and Mountcastle.
Time to do the unthinkable.
I honestly think you are overselling what they’d get back for Julio. I don’t think Boston would even entertain that trade proposal. If we aren't going to build a winner with money while we still have this staff, then maybe dealing Julio for 3 bats might be the answer. Could be true, but Julio is a huge opportunity at a young age still. Those players don't come along very often. Prospects vs proven, though he struggled last year, is still once in a generation chance. And the thing with Boston and Orioles is he wouldn't have to carry the teams. Heck, he might be 3rd-5th best player on the team. What a luxury.I honestly think you are overselling what they’d get back for Julio. I don’t think Boston would even entertain that trade proposal.
Detroit sure I think that’s fair
Just like Boston I don’t think the Orioles even entertain that one.
Haha... The Mariners remind me of that one fantasy football owner that thinks he's smarter than the rest of the league... He will wait to draft a RB in round 4 and then at the end of the draft, he sees that his glaring weakness is at 1B, err I mean RB... That same FF owner does this year in and year out and won't learn his lesson as to why he never makes the postseason.. He's just left to fill holes with the players no one wants in their starting lineups...Mariners analysis: What options are left at first base?
As the new year approaches and the Mariners remaining largely absent from the Hot Stove season, here's a look at some options to play first basewww.seattletimes.com
