16 million so far. We know they are going to do a salary dump we just don’t know if it is an actual Castillo trade that could bring back a real piece or a straight dump like a JP, Haniger or Randy. I’d say Garver but he is a fine backup C.

My guess is they will create money somehow where they will use $30-40 million to create a new infield, not really 30-40 million of new money but that’s what Jerry will add.

I read one writer's proposal where they go back to the Kelenic way of trading and ship Garver to Orioles while adding a top prospect along with him to move salary. Celesten or Montes is the tax to deal Garver in this scenario. That would be $12.5M. Then deal Castillo for major league ready players saving another $24M (no trade clause so he will have to really want to go). If they can pull that off, they will have $52.5M to spend.

You know how many old, washed-up vets you can buy with that money?

They definitely went all in on the bobble heads for the 2025 season

I was looking at the promotional calendar/schedule and saw that each series of three games or so where normally only one night would be a bobble head Night. The entire series is bobble head games for all three or potentially four games of that series.

I think the total number of bubblehead games of the 81 home games for the Mariners has to be at least close to 20 games nearly one out of four baseball games will be a bubblehead game this season.

If they did that Garver trade I’d honestly be pissed. You can handle Garver as a backup catcher. Attaching a prospect with Haniger I totally get cause he is useless for the team. And it would suck if it was a top 10 guy. Castillo to the Orioles just seems destined cause the Orioles need pitching and his contract lines up with Adley and Henderson.

Truly I’d love for them to get aggressive and trade all of their top prospects for proven guys. The reason I say this is the only reason pro Jerry people give on why he has a job still is that he has built a top 2 farm system twice. There are plenty of guys out there who are cheaper but the Mariners are going to have to give up multiple top 10 guys. The M’s aren’t the only franchise that is having money problems.
