If we win tonight I'll be shocked. We won a few games, everyone gets a little hope, and then the Mariners show up and we'll quickly lose the next 3-4 (putting us below .500). I mean I hope I'm wrong, but I've seen too many non-playoff seasons with this team (currently leading ALL major US sports with the longest playoff drought) to know not to get excited.

Yeah I agree..it is early..and the playoff chance is small....maybe better than one in a milloin...right right..so your saying we have a chance...lololol
1.Yeah but what I am excited about is the depth of the mariners
So even if they have injured guys they have guys to replace them
It has not always been as good as it is now
The overall quality of players in the line up is real good
Compared to Ackley/saunders.rookie days
If Felix would pitch 50 /50 as a #5 starter ...there maybe a chance
Lol
If the bull pen jells. And solidifys...yup there maybe a chance.....lolol
I'd rather the team tank and get a decent draft pick. This team isn't built to realistically contend in 2019. My hope is that our trade bait (Encarnacion, Bruce, etc.) play extremely well so we're able to land something that'll help us in 2020-2021.
Agreed..and that is.like 25pct of what Jedi
Is doing
25 other pct..get players coming off bad
Years...give them the oppertunity to have a better year this year
by coming to a revisioning mariners team
.having a youth movment at the same time
While jedi was doing both of those things
I think the gamel for santana trade was a really good trade for both teams..cuz gamel fits for Milwaukee and Santana fits
For if for the mariners
..much much better as an American league Lf guy..gamel fits so much better
Than Santana for Milwaukee
as a 4th of guy and dh or playing if so the other of guy can dh when playing American league...almost a no brainer
When you think about it..for both sides
That said
Jedi,s reclamation projects
Jay Bruce
Tim beckham..so far doing well
Kyle seager..yeah they did not have to trade for him but he still is a reclamation
Project..
.and we saw Moore make three
Error,s last night and almost lose the game...kyles defence is still good
With that not a reclamation but Healy fits like a glove as a 1b/3B with Bruce and seager...go figure..built in platoon
Really...the only thing is...is that they have
One to maney dh guys...that is all
And a need for an all world closer...lol
The way to add more Draft pick,s is to
Trade for competitive balance picks.
Just an altirnative...to tanking
Arizona,s 8 picks in the top 100 is sticking out like a sore thumb
He does account for 1R so not all is lost for TB lol

Healy was a 3b with the A's, but is clearly a subpar 3B. He needs to be at 1B once EE and Bruce are gone.
Vogey, not an option.
Hopefully White will be ready in 2 years.
Who plays 3rd? Back to Seager? Shed? Beckham?
Yes, Clearly DEFENSE is an issue this season.
But is sure is nice to NOT be sitting on 3 hits and 1 run after 7 innings.
I felt that the Santana trade was straight up robbery in terms of overall value. If Domingo Santana can continue to hit like he is right now and how he did in 2017 you can argue that he's a legitimate average/above average starting corner outfielder. As you mentioned, Gamel is more of a fourth outfielder. I'd take Santana over Gamel any day.
Mariners also gave up a fairly good prospect...the pitcher from harvard
He did throw two no hitters at that lvl
Milwaukee wanted him....like the mariners wanted kilinic...that stuff is leftover stuff from the last draft..that ends up showing itself in the trade season
Also interesting to note..the top 150 which is
The first five rounds
Is the top 10 pct in the draft

I agree it was a good trade for us we have been swiping the brewers even going back to the Segura trade. I think with Braun and Yelich they didn't have enough space for Santana so that was a big reason why they traded him away. Still was great for us.
I think it worked out for both teams to a certain extent.
The Mariners overall received a better talent than the Brewers, but Gamel offers more as a 4th outfielder than Santana does.
