Their goal was reached last year. They have moved on.Ugh, this team just acts like they don't even want to be there this year. Going through the motions collecting paychecks and the management seems perfectly content with it.
The Seattle Mailitiners
I am a firm believer in no defined role - inning when it comes to a reliever. No kidding, it’s like he had a talking point all lined up if the bullpen blew a game.
You had to pull Bryce in that situation... He was at 102 pitches... 12 pitches over the amount they wanted him to have going into the game...I am a firm believer in no defined role - inning when it comes to a reliever.
When the game was 2-1 ( us ) in the bottom of 7th inning when Servais yanked our starter. 2 guys on base I believe 1st and 2nd
You bring in your 'closer' or who ever has the nastiest stuff to get out of that inning with the least damage done to the scoreboard.
By the time the 9th inning came, it was over. Why save your closer ( or whoever ) when the game was won or lost in the 7th inning.
I could go on and on about pitching / relievers ... but you get my point.
OR ... you do not yank a guy off the bump who has already proven himself for 6+ innings. I was shocked when they pulled Bryce.
I knew it was a mistake. And it cost them the ballgame.
Uhhhh.....maybe a little hope though for Servais IMO but after all these years I kinda expected a bit more growth in his managing skills, particulary managing the pitching staff.Cabby gets the start against a RH pitcher.
There is hope for Servais yet
Did the exact same thing. Got it on my outlook calendar when to cancel so those A holes won't start charging my card.I signed up for the free 3 months just before 1st pitch. I will check out some movies while I have it.
I see your point of view on defined roles, I am coming around to that POV but unless the entire mentality of pitchers has changed, it used to be they wanted defined roles so they could get a routine much like starters. IMO they need to know so they can prep themselves. I 100% understand the thought of having your best bullpen arm pitch in the hardest spot but I just feel a guy won’t be at his best if one day he is going in in the 5th, then the 8th or whatever. We got to remember it isn’t like Servais picks up the phone and a guy just gets ready.I am a firm believer in no defined role - inning when it comes to a reliever.
