the part we dont know is if Arians was offered the job but wanted more than the 3.5 or had issues with some control, but Arians was a no brainer hire for most of us, should have not been allowed to leave the building without agreeing.

so far the one thing that is the same is they have not thrown the defenisve coordinator out of the building while the search starts.

What is with that? Mel Tucker should've been canned with Trestman and Kromer.

It's contract... and smart by the Bears. If he's hired by another team they don't have to pay him... If they simply fired him they would owe the remainder of his deal.
All coaches were told- Find other work...

Also (HIGHLY Doubtful) but if new HC wanted to keep him, or any of the others on staff, then they would already be under contract.

cant find any information on the length of tuckers deal. all this dollars talk makes you think it might be a few more years. I was thinking maybe its just gonna expire.

The Bears' other assistant coaches are still on staff because they still have contracts, and every NFL team does it that way cos if another team hires them, the first team is no longer on the hook for the remainder of the money on those deals; if they fire them, they are.

However, that said: I don't want any head coach that thinks keeping Tucker around is a good idea.

The Bears will still owe Tresty and Emery money on their contracts unless someone else hires them.

I can see Tresty being hired as an OC which should wipe out the last two years (of the 4 year contract) owed to him.

Even Tucker may find work as a DC somewhere. He's held the position with several clubs. At worst, he finds work as an assistant.

Not sure what Emery's contract terms were? But that may be the only money the Bears end up eating (as I don't see him getting hired) But stranger things have happened.

Josh McCown has been publicly stating he thinks Trestman would be a good hire for the Bucs. Trestman would be a more inspired choice than most of the guys Lovie has had to do the job in the past, which means Lovie would probably go in another direction.

Trestman would be an excellent hire for TB regardless of who the QB is.....outside of Jay Cutler.

In my estimation, when Lovie was nothing more than a glorified DC with an HC title. I also believe Trestman was nothing more than a glorified OC with an HC title. The two of them should do quite well together since they seem to complement each other very well.

You sure about that? Maybe he gets kept by our next head coach before our next GM is hired and can just fire everyone.

Anything can happen at 1920 dysfunction junction, Lake forest Il.

Except that is to manage not looking like a half-assed outfit.

Not even a chance Tucker stays.

There is a 0.0% chance Tucker is the Bears DC once a new HC is hired.

That 0-16 team woulda beat this year's Bears IMO.

Marinelli has been coaching in the NFL longer than most of us have had pubic hair. He is definitely one of the better d-line coaches around. That 0-16 team was in allot of close games that year.

I'd take Marinelli 100 times before even considering Mel Tucker.

Who, btw, is fucking gone. Not a snowball's chance in hell does he stay.

You have no idea if Arians would have been any better or worse. Using this logic is plain idiotic.
