LOL - good catch. I wonder how far they had to pan back until you saw an actual Redskins defender in the middle of the field. Perhaps it was like 3rd & 40. If not perhaps this should have been Exhibit A in the case to can Manusky.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the Skins can convince Marvin Lewis to head up our defense and Manusky can coach up LB's. Thoughts?

There isn't enough tea in China to get Marvin Lewis back in Washington. He ran out of here so fast, he wanted no parts with this organization again.

?? I don't believe he will be here for the simple fact that if that were going to occur it would already have happened (unless you are talking about 2020).

He perhaps "ran out there fast" because he immediately became the head coach of the Bengals. It is not as if he didn't get a promotion. He would have made the same move if he were the DC of any other team. Read this interview with Lewis from 2003. It sounds like he left on good terms & was not critical at all of Snyder or Spurrier. Sure it wasn't perfect, but it sure doesn't sound like he was miserable in DC.

Lewis surprised to see Spurrier resign

The Redskins would not be that bad of a fit for him since he knows Gruden well & perhaps would work well w/ other members of FO. He would also be able to coach at least a half way decent defense. Heck - if things worked out a certain way he could be the next Skins coach (although again he won't be there in 2019).

One other thing - I always see saying that nobody will touch the Redskins jobs, and I call BS. There are only so many openings & they are almost always for teams with issues including their FO and owner. I seem to recall Shottenheimer stating that he would "never play for Snyder" & shortly thereafter he was working for Snyder & the Skins as HC. Money, power & other factors have a funny way of influencing people.

I am not stating that Lewis will ever coach for the Skins in any capacity, but the possibility of him serving in this capacity is not as far fetched as you portray it.

Never say never but we will have to agree to disagree. The guy is a professional, do you expect him to go the media and say man are they screwed up? I remember that he was not happy at all in Washington. Lets list on both feet and both hands the number of coaches that were ecstatic to be with the Redskins.

As alluded to in various articles - Lewis' issues were more with certain players during that season (namely Arrington) & not the FO or ownership. Nobody said anything about potential coaches being ecstatic to come to the team. Just that they would not be miserable & Lewis would have a chance to work w/ some familiar faces & a not too shabby defense. Heck - most NFL openings are there for a reason & it usually involves a bad situation and/or bad FO so I doubt that going just about anywhere involves a situation where the new coach believes that it is the best situation possible.

Remember - I don't like Snyder nor Allen & I am not standing up for them. I am simply pointing out that there are only 32 teams in the NFL & a very, very limited amt of opportunities for jobs and hardly any of those involve the perfect situation so potential candidates have to compromise somewhat. Oh well - as you say - agree to disagree.

Money talks, if we really wanted Marvin to coach our defense (he simply is a better DC than Manusky) then Snyder can make that happen. After all, we are trying to improve the team in any way, shape or form. Marvin Lewis would immediately make our defense better imo.

Who is "we are trying to improve the team …" Key Moe Sa Bee. I don't think the we you are talking about and the we that is actually making the decisions are the same people.

So now "we" are picking apart post when "we" are speaking in third person. Look, whomever "we" are, the team would improve on defense by adding Marvin Lewis to the coaching room. I think "we" all would agree.
So, "we-we"...

Touchy we? The post was negative towards the Redskins FO, not you. Bad day, got a wedgie? :noidea:

Nope. Just saying that having Lewis in the building if only as a defensive advisor to Manusky makes complete sense to me. Have Lewis sit in the booth each week communicating with Manusky on game days. :noidea:

Oh I would love to have Lewis back here in Washington. I would love to have Gregg Williams back here. I really would have loved if we had signed Wade Phillips a few years ago when he wanted to come here.
