Nope. They went 16-0.

The year includes more than just the 16 games of the regular season. They lost the SB...so, they didn't go undefeated. 18-1 is not the same as 19-0.

The only undefeated team in the modern era is the '72 Dolphins.

I was just doing what you did. Pretending like you didn't know what he meant. I suspect you already know that, though.

I didn't pretend that, though. The post that I replied to includes the following: "I think it's impossible for Manning's season to match Brady's of 07 since the biggest stat is wins and the Pats were undefeated." Pretty sure that most fans, other than the PM haters, of course, would have to give the nod to his current season over Brady's '07 if PM does in fact both break the TD passes record and win the SB. Still work to be done, but that is certainly possible.

I think it's impossible for Manning's season to match Brady's of 07 since the biggest stat is wins and the Pats were undefeated. That being said they are almost identical in stats at this point. Brady had a 1% higher completion rate and a tad better TD% and INT%, Manning has a .1 better Y/A. Brady also has a 2.7 better QB rating at this point. Brady threw 39 more passes than Manning to this point, so Manning will end up with approx. 2 games more worth of passes - which will be why he passes Brady in TD's and yards. Manning's 2004 season was better than this year IMO.

So now individual success is predicated on how a team fares as well? So the fact that Peyton has the 25th ranked defense in the NFL compared to the 4th for Brady is 07' still makes them even? Did Brady that year have to score 49 points in a game just to actually be able to win it? The rest of your stats I can agree with to a certain extent. You have to remember there are different styles of offense in the NFL. For Brady he had what I would consider the greatest deep threat in NFL history with Randy Moss (notice I did not say greatest receiver as that title belongs to Jerry Rice and him alone) so the ability to spread the field was easier where the Broncos offense is based more on the short to intermediate throws with now taking a few shots down the field when the match ups dictate it. So obviously that style takes more pass attempts to get the ball down the field than one long bomb to Moss.
