Amazing season for Peyton, hats off to him. He should break the record easily. And about playing in the cold, well he seems to be burying that theory. Two thumbs up.

04 is still the greatest season I've seen by any quarterback. He broke the td record in 15 games and did it with only 497 pass attempts.

Having a discussion on who's the GOAT QB is pointless since they played in different eras.

In Terry Bradshaws day you could hit the QB in the head and clothesline WR's.

In the days of Slinglin' Sammy Baugh, the ball was 6 inches more round in the middle and was MUCH harder to throw.

QB's in the 80's and 90's didn't enjoy the protection today's QB's and WR's do.

The rules have changed to be more TD/yardage friendly.

The records being set by Brady/Brees/Manning today will be erased by QB's that are in HS right now and so it will continue.

At which point Pats fans will shout to the high heavens, "In Brady's day, the rules were tougher".

IMHO there are only 2 positions where we have the GOAT: WR and TE.

Jerry Rice and Tony Gonzalez respectively.

Other than that, it's open for debate.

Manning will set the record but unless they win the SB, it wont matter.

When people talk about the 2007 Pats you really don't hear much about the records they set, only the game they didn't win.

Oh how they have to hate Tyree in NE.

I think what he is doing this year is amazing because its not in a dome. Last year top 4 out of 5 qbs for yards were dome QB.s Brees, Ryan,Stafford and forgot 4th one

Joe Montana and Ray Lewis said that Brady was GOAT. ARod said it was Manning. I say Montana then Brady. Rodgers has the potential to be right there

I say Johnny Unitas then Montana. Brady and Manning are both in the top 5. Yes, Rodgers has the potential, but he has a long way to go.

Well it's not like I picked Bert Jones. You would be hard pressed to find any top-5 list that doesn't have Johnny U on it, and I can find several who have him #1, so is it really a reach?

Wake me up when Manning wins in the playoffs. Not to be a dick but you can take all your MVP's and regular seasons accolades and burn them for all I care. At the end of the day Manning has as many SB wins as Trent Dilfer, Jeff Hostettler and Brad Johnson. This league is a about winning in the postseason for better or for worse.

So does saying "Not to be a dick" give you permission to be one these days? Hmmm I will have to try that next time I want to be a dick and see how that goes. As for the individual accolades compared to Super Bowl wins not sure that is the best argument to try and make of whether one individual player compared to another is better. The fact that guys like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson have a Super Bowl ring should show how much of a team sport this really is in the NFL. I bet you Tom Brady would tell you his 3 Super Bowls had a lot to do with having a great defense help him out. Manning's one Super Bowl his defense actually showed up for a couple of games to help him out. Just look at last year as a great example in Peyton and the Broncos score 35 points but still lose the game. 35 points should be enough to win most games in the NFL. I bet Peyton would have killed to have the New England defense last year that only surrendered 28 to the Ravens.

Not to be a dick, but that seems like an exceedingly narrow minded view. Perhaps all that matters to you is counting rings, but you should have at least noticed that millions of fans are interested in the games each week, all throughout the season, taking note of what, to them at least, are remarkable performances. For example, you might recall that only last year there was a great deal of interest generated by AP and CJ, as they pursued all-time season records. Same with Manning this year.

While winning the SB is obviously the ultimate team goal, to say that that is the only story of an NFL season seems to ignore a lot.

That is being a dick.

Peyton will very likely hold the TD record and kudos to him when he does.

Thats how I can say it. Matt Ryan had the best 5 year start of any QB in NFL history and he hasnt gotten it done when it counts. Ill bang on him all day too. Manning is great but he has been on wayyy more than 1 great team and yet has only 1 ring. Thats a function of him in large part and other aspects of his team to a lesser extent. The NFL is a ring driven endeavor and he has 1. 1 is still more than a guy like Marino so props to Peyton for gettng 1 at least. Hell he may win the next 3 and be all set. Until then he is a just a GREAT QB who hasnt gotten it done when he needed to. Hell its not even like Kelley who at least got to 4 and just ran into better teams. Manning has lost as the favorite numerous times. ( just like our guy who is even more shitty in the playoffs)

I think it's impossible for Manning's season to match Brady's of 07 since the biggest stat is wins and the Pats were undefeated. That being said they are almost identical in stats at this point. Brady had a 1% higher completion rate and a tad better TD% and INT%, Manning has a .1 better Y/A. Brady also has a 2.7 better QB rating at this point. Brady threw 39 more passes than Manning to this point, so Manning will end up with approx. 2 games more worth of passes - which will be why he passes Brady in TD's and yards. Manning's 2004 season was better than this year IMO.

by that logic manning's 04 was also better than brady's 07. since peyton threw 1 less TD on 80 or 90 less attempts. which is nearly 3 games worth by peyton's 04 pace.

Pretty sure they lost a game that year, didn't they?

Nope. They went 16-0.

Right. Should have written that they did lose a game that season, which kind of undermined all of the other wins, since it was the most meaningful game that they played. Of course, I suspect that you already know that.

I was just doing what you did. Pretending like you didn't know what he meant. I suspect you already know that, though.
