Also, this news reminds me of one of my favorite quotes about a draft prospect that I've ever heard.

When asked about Kilgore on the field, his college coach (Jerry Moore) once said, "Once the ball is snapped, Daniel probably has the most positive mean temperament I've ever seen in a young kid." What makes it so cool is that Jerry Moore started his coaching career in freaking 1956 as an SMU assistant.

This is a good signing but this does not mean that the C position is set ... This just means that Kilgore will be in the mix for the C position.. The Niners could still acquire competition for the position through draft or FA... If Kilgore does not do well in training camp, then he could still be the back-up C or Guard...

I don't have much faith in this signing. If he couldn't beat out Goodwin last year what will make this a good news. Maybe he will break out like Boone.

It's a good sign that they extended him because it means he will at a minimum factor into solving the center vacancy. A bad sign would be if they cut him because he sucked. I don't anticipate they'll overpay for his services because he hasn't even been a starter.
