Bit of a crazy game, but the fact that Geno and Phil are engaged is a really good sign, going forward. Regardless of the outcome of this game, I like the offense we showed this game, easily could have potted five or six. (Defense has not been so good but the mistakes are fixable.)
For OT, I'm going Sid. He's been passing off all night and I think it's time to get selfish.
What a move by Barzal.
He could have been an Oiler, but Edmonton decided they wanted Griffin Reinhart instead.
In reality if it wasn't for the Penguins wanting David Perron he would have been on the losing team tonight. He could have been an Oiler, but Edmonton decided they wanted Griffin Reinhart instead.
Speaking of the them the Penguins played that final goal like they were the Oilers on defense.
Jack Johnson before overtime told Dumolin if Barzal has an open shot in the slot the best defense is to flop on the ice like a fish out of water....f**king Jack! What a move by Barzal.
Guentzel and Crosby both were contained very effectively. I wasn't paying much attention to the lines Trotz was putting out, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was playing the matchup game. This is going to be a heck of a series if game 1 is any indication.
The master Jack Johnson is training them well.I missed the game tonight but saw the Isles won in OT. I went to the highlight reel fully expecting that the OT goal would show Kris Letang out of position and watching the game winner go in helplessly. I was not disappointed.
The Isles played a great game and their goal was to stop Crosby/Guentzel. Then let Kessel and Malkin try and beat them. It was highly successful and we should expect more of the same going forward.Isles outplayed, out hustled, out coached the pens... look for Malkin to be in a ranger sweater real soon
