very interesting that he still refers to florida as 'back home' throughout the interview

dont think it will hurt negotiations for Tallon thinking he can get him for less. everyone knows that he has to go so its a position of weakness anyway.

**UPDATED NHL NEWS** Leafs have best package for ‪#Luongo‬ - Leafs sources however fear he wants no part of another Canadian team ‪#WeWait‬

I can't wait for this to be over so all the "bloggers" are made to look as foolish as their predictions. I just want it to be over

Canucks' Roberto Luongo to 99.3 The Fox in Vancouver on Chelsea Dagger: "I like that song. It's catchy. I heard it seven times in one game"

LMAO. I just read an article referencing this quote and lost it. Hilarious.

I love Lou. No idea why he gets so much hate (not talking about Vancouver fans - random fans around the league seem to dislike him so much. Hope he gets put into a good situation).

I want this deal done. I want to know what the Canucks are getting in return. I don't think the Canucks have much leverage here. The last thing I believe they want is to open camp with both goalies on the roster. Over 9 million in cap space taken up by their goalies & Luongo can dictate where they trade him too.

Luongo is off to solid start at WSOP main event. Started with 30,000 chips, now up to 48,000.

How will Bobby Lou fit him into his poker schedule? Any idea how long a dinner break is?

I hope he wins the damn thing. All the poker pros will be eating crow.

lol, what would they need to talk about?

Yomark: Lou, do you really wanna play here?
Luongo: Fuck yeah, never really wanted to leave. I was traded.
Yomark: This probably could have been done over the phone. :L

When commiting 11 years $47M with a rumour of that player having a retirement plan 5 to 6 years into that deal I think the guy who is top dog in the agency would need to meet face to face if they get 5 yrs out of Lou and markstrom learns from him to take over its worth giving up a solid prospect but he needs to know his headspace a phone call may not be enough

Ah, good call. I didn't think about the Markstrom angle. That kid looks legit. I guess I kind of assumed the retire early thing as a given (which is probably a bad assumption on my part).

I didn't know much about Markstrom until the luongo rumours came up. reports say he is the best goalie prospect in the NHL so Im sure they would be more excited to have a Luongo showing him than a Theodore or Clemmenson. at least IMO. Lots of complaints about Luongo for sure but his preparation, commitment, fitness and training are top of the league that pays off for young players.

think I've mentioned this before, but Canuck scout Lars Lindgren found Eddie Lack (currently 3rd in line to the Vancouver goaltending throne) when he went to scout Markstrom. It was one of the very few games that Markstrom didn't start, and the back-up happened to look pretty damned good as well. Not many other scouts got to see him because Markstrom started so many games, so Vancouver signed him as an undrafted free agent.
