LSU 2019 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
My opinion only..................Poor play calling, coupled with no O Line protection and smothering Gump defense.

I'm not saying better play calling would have won the game, but I am saying Les Miles is a stubborn ass and will not change his approach to win a game.I'm curious as to what play calling you think would have worked.

Once again, I am pretty sure that would have been the case. But not trying to come out and attack the secondary to make Bama respect the pass and possibly allow room for Fournette is on Miles. Result would have been the same, but at least make an effort to break tendencies.Ok, so what play calling is going to prevent your line from just getting beat up and down the field all night long?
You were dominated that line of scrimmage. That's it. It wouldn't have mattered what plays you called.
If your line is getting waxed, some RB screens may help.
We would have fucked that up too, though.

Nope, Bama is going to come out trying to shut down Fournette. Any coach with half a brain uses the run to open up the pass. Especially when the weakest part of Bama's D is the secondary. Not that their secondary is bad, just isn't as good as it's front 7.You'd all be crying today about how you had fournette and Les was too stupid to use him etc.
Nah, that'd be heresy right there. Ought to be able to open it up without having to rely on an air threat. They could try recruiting a QB to open up the running game a bit.

When we tried Harris still made mistakes. Fournette had 2 chances in open field. Both in the passing game, both were bad passes from Harris. That is why I said at the end of the day it wouldn't have mattered. But Saban respects Miles way more than the other way around from the look of it. Which is why LSU consistently gets out coached.TB had the best idea - utilize your rbs as receivers.

Wisconsin did that at the start of our game with them. It's the reason they had success on that 1 drive.
But we adjusted and shut it down. And when LSU did try to pass out of the backfield - it didn't work.
Our defense was extremely disciplined this weekend. I saw a guy break off running towards a QB in order to cover a RB out of the backfield a few times.
LSU just got beat in their matchups.
