Low post defense a lost art

Refs in basketball nowadays just call the most tick tack foul call's in the paint... It's almost like you have to get out of the way or your gonna get a foul call ... Any contact is seen as a foul.... Refs have really hurt the game over the years... Frustrating too watch ...

Yeah, I'd like to see them allow a little more contact down low, and tighten up the whistle on the perimeter.

A few of those falls on Karnowski & Sabonis were ridiculous... Their big... Small guards are going to bounce off them... It's called, the "Laws of Physics"...

Yea the refs get particularly bad in the tourney. The badgers fouled about 7-8 times a game during the season, and now have fouled nearly 20 times in each of the past two games. A lot of them on really ticky tack calls. I don't want unwarranted foul trouble deciding games during march, it stupid

Seems to me the refs miss the proper call almost every time when the person driving the lane initiates the contact; bounces off the bigger defender which actually puts him out of arms reach, makes the shot and then goes to the line for the 3 point play.

Amen too that ... Let the kids play and decide it ... If it's an obvious foul sure call it, but the tick tack stuff hurts the game ...

NCAA Low post play was at it's best before the one and done player. Take Okafor as example. If he played four years, in his senior year, he would be silverback gorilla good.

I agree. The reason to go to college is to increase your earnings potential. If a guy can max out his earnings potential as an 20 year old...he should go do it.

I'm addressing the OP's original statement of the low post play being weak. I say it's weak due to the one and done, not due to the refs. Freshman haven't learned the game yet so they get more calls against them. Freshmen are playing more because kids are leaving earlier. More inexperience...more fouls.

It's weak because officials never call offensive fouls except for hooks and when a help defender draws a charge. If they called offensive fouls on players that initiated contact by just ramming into the defender instead of calling fouls on weaker defenders when they're playing good defense on stronger players then low post defense would improve.
