Going to Cinn to be the OC....
Ugh. This does suck. I'm so over Kelly I can't stand it.Man this is huge, also a bad look for ND. A guy takes a step down to go be OC at Cincy. LOL
To be honest this would be a good time to fire Kelly. Most of his coaches are gone now.
Word is Denbrock was pissed at Kelly for taking away his game calling on offense. He had the title of Asst HC but was only a recruiter and WR coach and he didnt like that.
Denbrock has been with kelly for what 20 years now and him leaving isnt a good sign for Kelly and ND.
This will hurt recruiting in west coast BIG time. He has pulled more talent away from USC and stanford then any other coach in America. He is rated as a Top 5 recruiter in college football.
It's not the Bengals. It's University of Cincinnati. This thread is really hard to follow. Is Denbrock taking the OC job at University of Cincinnati or the Bengals?
I agree, if its the former, that's a huge embarrassment to ND. A lateral move. To Cincinnati. If that doesn't send a signal of the perception of the state of the program to the powers that be, nothing will. Denbrock took a calculated look and decided his future is better of at what is basically a directional school. Unbelievable.
I am not as worried about the recruiting losses. Especially at WR. Its not like we don't have 1000 of them on roster already.
Moreover, this will certainly force Kelly to, once again, go outside of his tree for an OC.
I wonder if there's more to the story, ie Kelly has found himself an out, and Denbrock is off the sinking ship. Or, Denbrock doesn't think Kelly will last another year and is getting out while he can before his name is attached to his complete failure here.
Supposedly Mike hasn't said yay or nay to Cinn yet, let's hope he stays. Also, here's just a hunch, but I get the sense that the players just simply like Denbrock better than Kelly too. In addition to maybe losing some recruits, we don't also get some transfer defections.
So its back to 10,000 delay of game penalties while coach Madden '17 makes sure he has the right matchup to throw a fade from the 1/2 yard line.So it's official, heading to Cinn as the OC. Apparently BK wants to call the plays himself...yuck.
I don't mind losing coaches, I HATE losing good recruiters, you do what you have to to get these guys to stay.
Well I guess a positive is that Kelly will feel pressure to perform so he can land that job at the next level. Pos.So it's official, heading to Cinn as the OC. Apparently BK wants to call the plays himself...yuck.

Well, he boxed himself in with his own ineptitude. He's not good enough to get hired away for a comparable price or a raise. He can't otherwise walk away without losing his payday.Well I guess a positive is that Kelly will feel pressure to perform so he can land that job at the next level. Pos.
It's a sickening feeling. Let's just hope the talent can carry this team, and that the new coaching additions are enough to make up for last year's ineptitude.Well, he boxed himself in with his own ineptitude. He's gotta do well enough to get out of dodge, but his heart's not really in it either, and you have to have a lot of energy and enthusiasm to succeed at the major FBS level. Its like both he, and therefore ND Football, are in some sort of limbo.
