Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton will undergo surgery to repair the AC joint in his right shoulder, the team announced Tuesday.

Hamilton will need six-to-eight weeks to recover from the procedure, which may delay the beginning of his season to allow him the proper time to recover and prepare. He is set to resume baseball activity in a minimum of three weeks. The team indicated that the symptoms in Hamilton's shoulder, which limited him to four games in September, resurfaced over the past week. His surgery is scheduled for Wednesday.
