I guess the player was pissed that they lost, and threw his stick in anger. The ref just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time.

Maybe he was waiting for that punk in the parking lot later on?

Yeah that was my initial thought, that he just threw it and the ref just happened to be there. Then I watched it again and thought maybe he did intend it. Honestly though, I doubt he could nail him that bad again if he tried. Freak accident I suppose but you can't be throwing sticks around aimlessly.

I like how a player from the other team skates over to say a few words to the kid that threw the stick, and the same ref skates over right away to break it up.

Gotta give him a lot of credit for that.
