With Murray entering the draft that leaves one more non Qb for us. At 8 we should have no problem geting one of the prime playmakers so I am not too worried

Be helpful if Drew Lock or another QB could have an impressive Senior bowl and a solid combine. Not sure which one could leap into the conversation? Always one will and then someone reaches.

Jacobs is arguably the best RB in this class because it's a weak class, imo. Henry wasn't then or even now a true 3-down back and Jacobs is. Jacobs pass-pro is advanced leaps and bounds over Henry.

Henry was a 6'3 242 lb. bruiser. Jacobs has rubber bands for ligaments and tendons in his ankles. Jacobs can and has repeatedly changed direction on a dime relentlessly over the last 3 years.

They're totally different running styles. On the field speed Jacobs is better, has longer better speed and has better vision than Henry. Henry just ragdolls opposition or runs through them. Jacobs is 215. Henry is or was 240. Big Difference. Henry still has speed but not the elusiveness that Jacobs possesses.

The hype has begun Daniel Jeremiah has him going #5 overall in his first mock of the year.

Daniel Jeremiah mock draft 1.0: Kyler Murray lands with Patriots

Has the Lions taking

T.J. Hockenson - TE

School: Iowa | Year: Sophomore (RS)
This might be a little early for Hockenson, but he fits the physical identity the Lions have been attempting to build.

Seems like something BQ would do :tsk:

He’s a tough ass kid and would be a great fit at TE. Don’t see him even going first round though.

Should be 3rd round before BQ even thinks offense. Need defense first.

Ohhhhh Danielson, you must do the following immediately;

#1. put down the Blueberry Kush

#2. relinquish all remaining supply to me at once

#3. hand over all contact info of supplier to me

#4. give me tenfold of what you normally have on hand

Jacobs isn't going anywhere near the top 15. He might be drafted by the Raiders with one of those picks in the 20's.

maybe.

Sutton Smith - Northern Illinois Huskies - 2019 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

Northern Illinois DE Sutton Smith accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Smith (6'1/237) has recently been practicing as a linebacker, and Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline says Smith has been "showing a lot of skill in coverage." As a redshirt junior in 2018, Smith had nation-high 15 sacks -- one more than he had in 2017 -- and 26.5 tackles for loss. A very productive player for two seasons with athleticism, Smith is a player to keep an eye on during Senior Bowl practices where he will be playing off-the-ball outside linebacker. Jan 19 - 7:42 PM

BB_72; could be interesting on 3rd day if he proves able to drop into coverage

Shrine Week: 15 To Remember - Rotoworld.com

LB Sione Takitaki, BYU - A late addition to the event, and immediately became the best linebacker on the roster. Takitaki has the speed to be a run and chase player. He has the toughness to be the hammer on runs directly at him. In its simplest form, that’s a great foundation for a linebacker prospect.

BB_72; They had a meeting/interview with this kid. I know nothing about him though.

WR Terry Godwin, Georgia - The best receiver during the week of practice. At Georgia, Godwin didn’t see a ton of looks - 38 receptions in a season was his highest total. Many of his standout plays were difficult catches in the endzone and along the sideline. During Shrine week, Godwin could not be covered, creating more and more separation with each break. He likely makes his home in the slot.

T Oli Udoh, Elon - His week was so good that Udoh earned a Senior Bowl call up. Just a mountain of a man at 6-foot-6, 328 lbs with 36-inch arms and an 85-inch wingspan. He looks most comfortable at right tackle, and that size is difficult to work around. But on top of that, Udoh seems to have the movement to mirror when blocking on an island, doesn’t bend at the waist and creates movement in the running game.

RB Nick Brossette, LSU - His greatest skill is in pass protection. We see so many running backs enter the league and be liabilities in the passing game. Brossette won’t be. Where others have questions, he offers an answer. With that said, he’s not a dynamic runner or receiver, but is stable in both areas.

BB_72; The pale version of ZZ

RB Devine Ozigbo, Nebraska - My favorite prospect of the roster before the week, my favorite prospect after the week. There’s so much to love about his game: Footwork in the backfield to hit open lanes. Speed to maximize yards blocked for him. Balance on contact to create on his own. I bet he tests like a great athlete. I haven’t completed this class, just Shrine and Senior Bowl rosters, but I’d be stunned if Ozigbo isn’t a top 75 player of mine. We will hear his name during the 2019 season.

BB_72; Hell yes to another Brasky RB

WalterFootball.com: 2019 East-West Shrine Game Stock Report

Chris Slayton, DT, Syracuse
Slayton was probably the best player at the East-West Shrine. Slayton dominated in the pass rushing one-on-ones using speed, leverage and strength to consistently get the better of the offensive linemen. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Slayton has shown the ability to play a variety of techniques on the defensive line with versatility to fit any NFL defense. Slayton does a fantastic job of staying low and playing with good leverage while also utilizing the length that comes with his frame. Slayton had 24 tackles with eight tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 2018.

BB_72; Syracuse connection now secured for 2019 draft. Thankful to have that completed. :bolt:

Maybe just draft Syracuse QB Eric Dungy at #8 overall and get it done as quickly as possible

Just saying no one he has ever mocked into the top 5 has ever fallen past pick 17 and the gap between Jacobs and the guys in competition for RB2 is pretty wide.

This draft has a lot of late first round talent at TE and WR and those are both big needs and some of them are going to slip aside from the 1st pick i'd like an offense heavy draft.

Lions Needs imo
1 TE probably 2
.
.
.
2 Some sort of pass rusher 4i Tech or Edge
.

.
3 WR2/3
4 CB
5 RB
6 FS
7 RT

damn. I was not aware of that. I automatically wrongfully assume that early mocks are more aligned with getting the clicks. I have no true notion of where Jacobs goes in the draft but I'm a bama homer and wish we had all first three rounds of Oakland's current draft slots.

I agree with majority of positions you've highlighted. I'm not sure, right now, of where the skill set position should be drafted. It depends on value of said player at stated position and draft slot/round etc.

We definitely should be looking at (2) coverage LB somewhere. One for depth (maybe FA) and one in draft. I'm not a fan of seeing Christian Jones (outside of depth) as a coverage LB. Watching him makes me want Jeremiah's stash even more so.

Nice later round pickup. Can play G as well. We definitely need 1 more OL but cant afford to use an early pick on one.

WalterFootball.com: 2019 Senior Bowl Rumor Mill

One final note from East-West Shrine, Georgia wide receiver Terry Godwin was one of the stars of the Shrine with a strong week of practice to improve his standing for NFL scouts. In speaking to team sources, they say that Godwin's impressive week carried over to the interview room. Teams were really impressed with how Godwin conducted himself and answered their questions.

Godwin should not go lower than the early rounds of Day 3 of the draft, and it's possible that he sneaks into Day 2.

BB_72; I like the thought of Godwin or even U-Mass slot WR Andy Isabella but not in the 4th round draft slot. However, I'd very much prefer to have a taller WR to groom for as a boundary WR.

WalterFootball.com: 2019 Senior Bowl Rumor Mill

With all the general managers, coaches and scouts in attendance for the Senior Bowl there is a lot of chatter going around. Here are some of the highlights from around the league on day one of the 2019 Senior Bowl week.

  • Yesterday, we discussed that teams were concerned with the character issues of Notre Dame defensive tackle Jerry Tillery. Another high-profile prospect with similar issues is LSU cornerback Greedy Williams. Evaluators have some concerns about how Williams is going to respond to getting a multi-million dollar contract. They also are worried about family pressure and those around him being a distraction.

Some sources feel that Williams is one of the most overrated players in the 2019 NFL Draft. They say the Georgia and Alabama tape illustrate that. They felt that he took his foot off the pedal on his late-season tapes and was protecting himself. A few sources said they graded Williams a late first-rounder, while another AFC scout said they graded Williams in the second round. On top of the character worries, Williams; thin frame is providing some on-the-field concerns about how he will translate to the NFL. Williams will be in store for some interesting interviews at the combine, and it would help him if he could add weight to his frame.

Tillery and Williams aren't the only early-rounders with some character concerns, another player who has some questions about his makeup is Florida's Jachai Polite. Sources with the Gators said that Polite was a good teammate and liked in the locker room, but some NFL evaluators have concerns about Polite having issues with maturity and accountability.

One team source said Polite's talent level is worthy of late top 10 to early teens, and if he slides into the mid-to-late teens, it will be because of the character concerns.

WalterFootball.com: 2019 Senior Bowl Rumor Mill

One player who could rise in the lead up to the draft is LSU linebacker Devin White. As we reported yesterday in the Senior Bowl rumor mill, the defensive line class did not materialize into the legendary status that everybody thought it would. With the draft not having as much high first-round talent as anticipated, some prospects will rise to take their place, and White is viewed as having that kind of potential. The reason for that is he is a pure football player. One AFC general manager said he thought White would climb because of his talent on the field and his makeup of being a team leader.

It can be difficult for non-pass-rushing linebackers to get drafted highly, but White could be similar to Roquan Smith and make it two years in a row.

BB_72; He is Not Roquan Smith v2.0 just yet and might never become him.
