KEY QUESTIONS: Why should fans be optimistic after 6-10 season?

What is the plan for bolstering the tight end position?

Quinn said boosting the talent and depth at the tight end position is a priority.

The good news in that regard is he really likes this tight end draft class, especially the underclassmen.

The Lions’ leading tight end last season, Levine Toilolo, had just 21 receptions.

“You read our needs correctly,” Quinn said to the person who asked the question about improving the tight end position.

I have been all over Hakeem Butler. Not sure we will draft a WR that early though.

If he gets drafted before round 4 then someone got into Slim Jim's stash.

Not my "Slim Jim" connect.

Someone else's "Slim Jim" connect

Not sure your comments match your source. They have him ranked as number 5 WR. You dont think 5 WRs will get picked in less than 3 rounds?

Of course my comments don't match my source. Those outside sources are never wrong either.

I should have put the "imo" within that comment of mine stating he shouldn't be drafted before the 4th round.

Hakeem Butler is more of a 50/50 ball catch receiver, who has build up speed and offers very little separation other than from the neck up due to his height, large catch radius, long wingspan and towering over DB's 6' and under.

here's a source for you from Draft-scout and Rob Rang

Position Rankings | NFL Draft Scout

you may have to click on the WR tab though if it doesn't automatically show as I copied it.

Butler is listed as the 13th WR and a projected 3-4 rd. prospect

I'll stick with assumption of where he "should be drafted, imo" on this prospect.

^^^^^

Also, I don't think many teams are going to draft a 6'6 WR whose best asset is his 50/50 ball catch but struggles with drops and has limited separation capabilities from L.O.S.

If a team doesn't currently have a very tall WR, like Butler, who is deemed a red zone threat then I could see that team using a 3rd round pick on him (but I wouldn't)

2019 NFL Draft Player Profile: Hakeem Butler - The Draft Network

Butler's comp is former USC/Lions WR Mike Williams and not the former Clemson WR Mike Williams, so I guess Hakeem Butler should be chosen top 5 1st rd. It's listed in that draft profile of Crabb's

PROSPECT COMPARISON – Mike Williams

BEST TRAIT – Contested Catches

WORST TRAIT – COD Skills

@Old Lion

Furthermore, I would draft Texas Tech WR Antoine Wesley long before I'd draft Hakeem Butler and I wouldn't look at Wesley prior to mid or end of round 4 at the earliest. Wesley has more athleticism, hip sink, fluidity than Butler has,

Rotoworld fantasy College Football news and analysis

The Draft Network's Jon Ledyard called Washington State RB James Williams an "electric playmaker."
Williams (6'0/205) will likely end up as a mid-round pick, which lowers his chances, but he has the potential to be an above average pass-catching running back. Williams led this year’s RB class in targets (93), receptions (83), receiving yards (613), and receiving touchdowns (4) and graded well in YPT (4th) and Marginal Explosion (4th). However, if he is going to be a playmaker, Williams has to improve his pass protection skills. If Williams lands on a team that utilizes their running backs as receivers, watch out.
