That is the interesting thing in all three deals not one was a half year rental.
All three have a very good possibility to be on the roster next year.
I am not even going to count the Qualls trade.

I liked the trade for Rodriguez.
I liked the trade for Snider.
I even liked the trade for Sanchez, although I would have preferred NOT to give up that extra draft choice.
But I did NOT like the trade for Qualls. Although McGehee isn't great, he holds more value than Qualls, IMO. And the Pirates gave the Yankees money in that deal? That's a head-scratcher for me. It also has been reported that Qualls was about to get DFA'd by the Yankees to make room for Joba's return. I recognize that the acquisiton of Sanchez takes most of McGehee's role..... but Casey still would have provided good insurance in case of injury to Alvarez or the remaining first-basemen. No matter how I look at it, that trade just doesn't make sense to me. Moving McGehee is understandable..... but why not seek a prospect (almost any prospect) rather than Chad Qualls?
