I assume you used the asterisk to denote you are either trolling the shit out of me by putting Coffey above Lidstrom, or you had a temporary seizure causing you to type the list out incorrectly.

/if I'm drafting, I take Nick, Kelly, Robinson, and Chelios all above Coffey... but that's just me.

Potvin too.

I'd draft Coffey and put him with a defensive defenseman and defensive winger. Lidstrom has some almost unparalleled consistency, but Coffey is worth 15 years of driving the offense (and only a little bit of suckitude after that 15). It's harder to replace that (only Orr is in the same league) than it is to replace an outlet passer with great stick-checking ability. The only problem is that it seems weird to call the dude a DEFENSEman.

Man oh man, nice touch Nick.

Edit: Not that it really matters, but what does a full page colour ad cost in the papers these days? $75 grand? $100 grand? Am I even in the ballpark?

Dash, I found a site that had the Freep's ad space listed at $750/"column inch".... That sounds like one of those tiny little ads under the movie reviews...

A small excerpt from a recent Lidstrom interview - Pretty much explains why the guy was such a great player.

Q: I think people would be surprised to hear you remember your mistakes. Was there a significant one -- like in playoff game?
A: There was one back in '93 -- against Toronto in the playoffs -- we lost Game 7 in overtime, and the guy that scored the goal was my guy that I was supposed to cover. I was with him, but I didn't have his stick. And he scored, and we lost the series. That ate at me for a while.
Q: That's almost 20 years ago.
A: Right.
Q: Do you remember who that was?
A: Borschevsky. A Russian guy. Played for Toronto.
Q: How did you react after that?
A: I was depressed. ... I felt down. ... You messed up -- you made a big mistake that cost the team a win and the series.
Q: How did you try to compensate for that?
A: I think I just took a mental note that ... as a defenseman in front of the net -- what you have to do better. ... Really, it's a small thing, but it ended up being a huge thing. I'm standing next to the guy but I don't have his stick. I think I learned a lot from it.

Ok, get out of my head dash. I just finished reading that same article a few minutes ago...
