Ok since they are not maulers you would think they would at least communicate together better.
The one sack that they gave up Chester ended up doing nothing. Absolutely nothing. Let the defender go and got the best view in the house of the sack. Licht almost got run over. Since we should not expect them to physically improve any at this point, we should hope that they learn to communicate better.

Unfortunately, they are until our young guys can develop. Last night, they were pitiful. Licht has the same problem as Monty did. He is just plain too small. There is no way he is going to stop a 350lb NT. He may keep his body in front of him, but he is going to get pushed back into the QB most of the time. Which means he is going to need help from a Guard. So if a DC knows this will be our blocking scheme, what do you think they do? They overload on the Gs and stop them from providing help or the G misses the overload and someone comes free. We saw that 5 or 6 times last night.

Well put. I did not see it as often as you did. I just watched the sack about 10 times.

I re-watched the game on NFL network. On that play, the back failed to pick up protection. I'm not defensing Licht or Chester, (because they stink) but protection failed all around. No excuse for Griffin either as it was an ill advised pass off his back foot.

Bright news is that the left side with TW and Lavaou seems to be holding better.

I'm pretty sure that they do communicate regularly, probably goes something like this: One to the other, "watch this!" After the play again one to the other, ......"they pay you for that?"....."yeah,and you?"....."sure, who else they got?"

I'm not sure Spencer Long should pay attention to anything Chester is doing. What can he learn?
How to let someone in a phone booth get past you without touching him?

I wish Spencer Long would take Chris Chester's spot, but I highly doubt it
