Not every team is as bad as Oakland and Kansas City were.
Rey Maualuga has been to the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years.
Andy Dalton doesn't even know what it is like to sit out of the playoffs as he is a perfect 2 for 2 on playoff appearances.
Maualuga had a terrible playoff game, and I am not a Rey M. fan, but there were times during the year he played very well. I guess Marvin is banking on that Rey M. not the playoff Rey M.
Dalton is not a bad QB, just lacks the deep threat, and his offensive line let him down a little last year. Didn't allow him to get as comfortable in the pocket as the year before in his rookie season.
Make sure we protect a little better, get a legit rushing attack to balance the offense a bit more, and give AJ some protection, and I think Dalton can be a decent QB, top 15 in the league. Which coupled with a top 10 defense should be a decent team.
I am not happy about Rey returning, but as long as the defense stays top 10 then I don't care. Andy is not a Tome Brady or Peyton Manning, he can't carry a team by himself, but the pieces are pretty much there on offense, just need a few additions and I think Dalton can be pretty decent.
Yeah I know Kramer, I am a homer. I am dealing with that.
People like you are the reason nothing changes.
People like me? LOL
You are a funny funny little man.
I didn't realize I make personnel decisions for this team. I didn't realize I have any say so whatsoever with this team. Until I am given the opportunity to make club decisions, I will try to put a positive spin, if possible, on any situation, because whats the alternative? Mope around in gloom and despair like you? IT basically makes the season not even worth watching if there is no faith in the upcoming season. The Bengals and Reds seasons are so important to me as an individual; and how I spend my free time, I refuse to be death hounds like some people on this board.
I will give you that I am a bit more homer than I should be, but I can still see weaknesses on this team, and wish for change there, but if it doesn't come, then you make the best of what you have. As the old saying goes, if life gives you a lemon, make lemonade.
You would be better off not being such a pessimist in life, it doesn't do anything but bring you down more often than not.
Being pessimistic about the Bengals doesn't make you a pessimist in life (or even in sports). It just means you have accepted the facts. Take your typical Cincinnati fan.... I think most of us would agree that we are very happy with the way the Reds run their business -- Even though we haven't won a playoff series since 1995. The Bengals simply don't inspire the same confidence. Everything the franchise does alienates fans and makes us scratch our heads.
The Reds made the trade for Latos last year, and traded for Choo this year, but all in all, they do not sign big name free agents, and they never really have outside Greg Vaughn. They sign their own players, something Brown says he is dedicaded to doing with Michael Johnson, AJ Green, Geno Smith, etc.
Until we start losing our stars, outside of Joseph last year, I will give them a break, as long as all the stars are retained on what I feel like should not become free agents.

Who prior to JJo would you call a 'star?' In reality, we're 1 for 1 in losing decent guy's we've drafted. But as long as we say 'we sign our own' enough, it happens, right?
I'm not saying Mike Brown doesn't suck, but he resigned Palmer the first time, he kept Chad, has kept Whit, Hall. So while we haven't had many "stars", he has kept some of them.
WHO DEY!
True, I would agree with Chad, and probably Carson when he resigned. I wouldn't call Hall a 'star' per se.
