Marvin Lewis faces critical year for his quarterback - CBSSports.com

"Andy just needs to keep being Andy" said Lewis. He added: "He just needs to keep playing and doing his thing. It's not his fault."

When asked why does it seem like the bulk of Bengals fans target Dalton, Lewis said "Because they look at some dumbass website."

Lewis also told the media: "We're looking for our QB and our MLB to take hold of our football team. I think both are such good people, that you got to be a little bit of a dick."

So Dalton's problem is that he's too nice?

Well, for one thing, he had better be nice to AJ Green, because if pisses AJ off he can pretty much f*** himself.

Marvin Lewis can go fuck himself. I hate that man like no other.

This franchise is a complete embarrassment.

Marvin's on a roll this offseason. He should have pissed off enough fans that attendance for the home opener is somewhere around 25k.

Marvin has gotten really cocky now, because he finally realizes he has absolute job security and really can't do anything to get fired.

Good thing we kept Marvin around for the long haul; otherwise, the culture would not have changed in Cincinnati.

Probably profootballfocus..... I'm guessing that's where he is taking aim.

He should read the SportsHoopla. We're never critical of Dalton around here.

That crossed my mind, but what percentage of the fanbase is interested in cybermetrics? Kind of an obscure target..

First blowing up about a column that only stated the obvious, now this..

this is beyond typical, condescending Marvin.

I think he is butthurt because they graded Malaluga the worst linebacker in football. Same for Gresham.

It really sucks when an 'objective' source says the same things the fans and local media say. Especially when it runs counter to the priorities the coaching staff.

Marvin's attitude gets worse every year.... He's now lost touch completely with the fans. It's not a stupid website that tells us how to feel. It's our own eyes. Even us naive fans can watch a replay of that playoff game and determine that our QB, MLB, and tight end suck.

Not only do they suck, but they "suck hard."

Breakfast with Marvin highlights | Bengals Blog

Sure enough.... Here's the Reedy blog which provides a little more context to the interview.

Not at all surprised to learn it was PFF and not at all surprised to learn that he was butthurt by their grade of Rey.

What I really don't get is why did we re-sign Rey? It's not like fans would have crucified MB for going in a 'younger' direction after dropping Rey. You could have saved money AND made the fans happy in the same deal. That must mean that the coaches really do like the guy.... I just don't understand why.

0 playoff wins in 23 years and counting. Understand why now?

I think that's how the Bengals are with football, its cool and all to be a football team in the NFL, but when people expect them to win and succeed at it, then it starts to become more than just a hobby and it starts to suck for them.

Rey Maualuga has been to the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years.

Andy Dalton doesn't even know what it is like to sit out of the playoffs as he is a perfect 2 for 2 on playoff appearances.

Maualuga had a terrible playoff game, and I am not a Rey M. fan, but there were times during the year he played very well. I guess Marvin is banking on that Rey M. not the playoff Rey M.

Dalton is not a bad QB, just lacks the deep threat, and his offensive line let him down a little last year. Didn't allow him to get as comfortable in the pocket as the year before in his rookie season.

Make sure we protect a little better, get a legit rushing attack to balance the offense a bit more, and give AJ some protection, and I think Dalton can be a decent QB, top 15 in the league. Which coupled with a top 10 defense should be a decent team.

I am not happy about Rey returning, but as long as the defense stays top 10 then I don't care. Andy is not a Tome Brady or Peyton Manning, he can't carry a team by himself, but the pieces are pretty much there on offense, just need a few additions and I think Dalton can be pretty decent.

Yeah I know Kramer, I am a homer. I am dealing with that.

PFF debunked this theory. Dalton had one of the best pass protecting lines in the league - partly due to their abilities overall and partly due to the offense being designed to get the ball out quickly.

Maualuga had a very good 4 game stretch. The same 4 game stretch that made Sanu look like a pro-bowler, the same 4 game stretch that made Robinson look better than he was, and the same 4 game stretch that made Dalton look like a good QB.

Then they all 4 just need to play like this for 16 games.
