We have our 1-4 vs their 4-7.

Two roster moves need to happen today, for Kartens and Sutton, I guess Morris going back down is one, the other move I have no idea, probably a bp guy with options.

I like these "Let's sweep the..." series thread titles. They're so optimistic! :thumb:

But we really need to take advantage of the Phillies' injury troubles this series. It's a good opportunity for extra wins.

hope for the best = 4-0
expect the worst = 2-2
realistic = 3-1

obviously need to jump on them early and get to their pen which is really sucking wind and papelbon even blew his first save the other day.
the phils, even with the injuries, are still scoring runs.
worley seems to do well against us.

Well, failed miserably at the sweep, but tonight's win was needed badly. Awesome to see Lincoln come in and put out the fire. I admit I was kind of doubting the choice of putting him in with the tying runner in scoring position and no outs, but sometimes it is great to be wrong.

Beat 'em Bucs!

Hmmm..... We still gotta win the last one to achieve your "worst" case. The pitching matchup looks favorable. I'm a bit wary that Burnett might be due for a bad game, but hopefully he'll rise to the challenge once more.

Just hoping that the Pirates didn't expend all their offense last night. Ain't no substitute for "McPower" (HR's from McCutchen, McGehee, and McKenry).

I'm very much enjoying the resurgence from McKenry with the bat. I know it's probably just a little hot streak, but I remain hopeful that his extra work with Hurdle during the off-season is paying off..... and will continue to pay off. It feels SO much better with McKenry above the Mendoza line with a little power.

If nothing else, McKenry is a useful backup long-term.

And speaking of McPower, why are pitchers still throwing to McCutchen in RBI situations with first base open? Last night was a great example of it on that opposite field 2-run shot. Runner on second, one out, two-run ball game, I would be walking an otherwise weak offense's best hitter in that spot, not pitching to him. :noidea:

Yep, we really needed that win and we need the one today too, so we can go 1-2 at St Louis and come home with a 3-4 road trip.

As for pitching to McCutchen, ballpark is so small I guess, I bet he starts getting IBB alot at big ballparks starting very soon.

I would much rather go 2-1 against St. Louis to keep them off our heels a bit...

Well I would too :)

I think its pretty telling that we pick up a guy on waivers that moves Presley and Tabata to the bench. Not only do they both suck at the plate, Tabata is giving away runs in rf.

Nice job closing out the series Buccos. They had me worried after Tuesday.

hey, worst case scenario, 2-2 to start the trip.
an arch nemesis on the road.
this team just seems to have a lot of character. when you seem to think the meltdown is starting, they jump back with a bunch of people kicking in to win ball games, even on the road.

a very likable and contagious quality. hopefully people start coming out during the week to fill the PNC so they can keep the 2nd best Home record as a marked advantage.

hopefully grilli getting over his rough spot with minimal team damage other than that 2-1 loss to the tigers.

on to st louis and predictions to come.

Remember when Brett Myers played a joke on Kyle Kendrick telling him he was traded to teh Yumiuri Giants for Kobayashi Ishakawa? Thank goodness he wasn't even though I bet right now he wishes he had been.

Kyle Kendrick traded to Japan - YouTube

Hate Mr. Batting Practice (Kendrick) and his weak arm.. :brick:
