I think the NHLPA needs all the information and allow the players to make the decision. It's their sport, it's their health.
If people are truly concerned about the players health (short and long term) they should want sports to be non contact.

For those of you guys who oppose changing under the pressure of the media or "specil interest groups", would you change your opinion, hypothetically of course, if public health officials, physicians and scientists came out with an independent report linking fighting to long term health effects?
This report is far from forthcoming and would probably be decades from now when enough data is gathered, but....
