Bill has brought in a plethora of receivers during the off season the past few years. Some will be cut during training camp, preseason and then some will be waived during final cuts and resigned to the practice squad. May need an extra if a season ending injury happens during preseason.

They don't have 90 players yet, and if they lock up enough at the WR position that they may draft two TE's...

No to britt. That's too many bodies.

The way I see it, unless we let slater go and replace his special teams production, one of Boyce, Amendola, and Lafell doesn't make the final team. If Harrison makes a strong push, probably two of the three are gone.

OMG. Would you shut it already. You've said it repeatedly that it's too many bodies. The Pats bring in a lot of WR every year. It's called Competition. And if during that competition you find a better guy....YEAH!

It's reality. Giving reps to guys who never have a shot at making the team when we are loaded with young guys who should be getting every rep possible is a fucking waste. Every single rep for Dobson, Boyce, Thompkins makes this team better. Every rep for a guy like britt who has zero chance of making the team is throwing away practice time.

Hopefully they are only bringing in guys that DO have a shot of making the team and the repetitions they get are to weed out those that should be cut.

Weeding out depth is taking away reps from the young guys who need every single one of them. We should be spending Brady's practice reps working with the guys who are all basically locked in, not trying out a bunch of guys for the bottom of the depth chart.

Oh, so that's why Chad Jackson didn't work out. Not enough snaps during training camp.
Taylor Price, same reason?
Brandon Tate?

Chad Johnson never learned the offense. The other two didn't have the talent. Our guys do, and they need the reps so they come into the season with everything clicking. Why take reps away from them for guys we know have no shot?

Competition breeds the chance of getting better.

I'd imagine if Britt goes to another team (say someone in the AFC) and turns out great, you will be like "Why did the Pats pass on him, Bill sucks, we should target guys like that"

LOL, give it up JDM, you are constantly boosting the rooks. The major problem is that those guys, which I think are good, didn't last a full season for whatever season, and we could have used them down the stretch. That means one of two things: 1) They are inherently fragile or 2) They ain't strong enough. Either reason is cause for worry. We need tougher WRs. Period. Look at the toughness of Welker or Edelman this past season. Those guys take major licks and keep on going.

I get what you are saying but toughness has nothing to do with it. Last year was Edelman's first year he's played all 16 games. The first time he hasn't missed games due to injury.

It seems bb is bringing in alot of guys for competition which is good. Seems except for edleman and gronk no ones spot is a given. Competition will bring the best ones to the field. Do not see how it could hurt anything you know withh bb there are no guarantees for a spot. Earn it.

I dont understand the faith in the young WR. And it is laughable that someone mentioned that Boyce was uncuttable.

This team is too close to being a SB caliber team and too close to Brady's retirement to just sit on what they have and hope for the best. The bottom line is the offense needs to get better.

I'd say Boyce get's cut at this point.

It's comewhat rare for bill to spend a fourth on a guy and not give him a second year, though. It's why I wouldn't be surprised to see Amendola go over Boyce.

Amendola has not always been a bust and is not a bust right now, he made some fantastic plays last year. Now if you want to say he is injury prone well I can't argue that, but he is pretty good.

True. But Amendola was MIA in the AFGCCG.

Free-agent wide receiver Kenny Britt, a 2009 first-round draft choice of the Tennessee Titans, is scheduled to visit the Patriots on Sunday, the NFL Network reports.

The 6-foot-3, 223-pound Britt played at Rutgers under Greg Schiano, one of Bill Belichick's close friends in the coaching fraternity. Britt hasn't met expectations in the NFL, in part due to injury and non-football reasons, and is coming off a season in which he played in 12 games and totaled 11 receptions.

The Patriots agreed to terms with free-agent receiver Julian Edelman on Saturday, and the reported visit with Britt indicates the team is still considering adding to its receiving corps.

Free-agent receivers Brandon LaFell (Panthers) and Jason Avant (Eagles) previously visited the team.

Per Robert Kraft "That won't happen." in reference to signing Britt.

Must be he did not wow them with a Randy Moss like football IQ.
