How? By playing with some other team for a while?

I mean, I'm not pissed at this signing ONE BIT, but NMCs on the first contract with a team are just kind of weird, you know? They should be a commitment from the team that, hey, we really like you and we'll keep you around because we've gotten to know and grow with each other over these last seasons. Other than Lecavalier getting to know the back of our net every time he's been in town, I don't know that that was necessarily occurred just yet...

He you are preaching to the choir.
The NHL caters to its stars. He is a vet who has played 15 years with 1 team and has won a Stanley cup
He is one guy who actually has earned it

1 guy? The Flyers give out NTC and NMC like it's candy. This may have been a reason we couldn't trade Briere for some kind of prospect or picks. It's ridiculous.

I really can't get over how OK I am with this signing. That's a great cap hit for a guy of lecavalier's credentials. Never thought I'd see the day but I'm actually really excited about a homer signing!

I love the signing and quite shocked that Homer got him at this price.. My gripe is only about these contracts that have NTC and NMC attached? I don't think Letang's new extension has a NMC attached?

It does, limited NMC. Can specify 12 teams before each season to which he cannot be traded.

in case anyone was panicking about cap space.. that's 1.1 mil with pronger still counting and 3.5 mil spent on a goalie (i put thomas there because it sounds like emery might resign in chicago and it was easier than trading for halak haha)

Button just said lecavalier is solid on faceoffs too. Useful. Flyers suck on faceoffs haha.

Halak or TT would be a perfect fit for Mason then go with who's hot next year!

Would rather see Halak. I thought I saw cap hit of $1.6? Like the Vinny signing, just wish it was 2-3 years.

good thing is its not a 35+ contract, so hopefully if he is useless towards the end he can retire no penalty to us.

I haven't read all the way to end of this thread cause I'm at work and don't have the time. If someone has already said this...sorry....

The upshot of this signing is that Schenn will no longer be yoyoing between wing and center. Putting him on the LW with Lecavalier is the core of a big 2nd line to compliment G's line. It can only serve to help Cooter knowing he will have a more set role. The bigger question in the back of my addled mind is who will play on a line with Cooter who has some offense in his game to go with checking.

Homer came through with this one. Some are complaining about the length of the contract but that cap hit is quite manageable!

Having Mez and his body made of glass in there instead of Coburn gives me heartburn. I'd rather try to find a way to trade Mez, even for a 7th round pick or even waive him before losing Coburn. Of course, that is unless Coburn brought back a solid dman.

Agreed. He's twice the player Briere is (right now), at a smaller cap hit. I like this deal a lot.
