I love the guy but if Coots explodes offensively i will be very suprised.

Sorry you misunderstood my comment about Coots I look at him as an all round player. The one in last year's playoffs that frustrated malkin. If he shows up next year consistently he'll be money. Schenns a different animal just needs consistency.

I was thinking about Lecavalier and I think we should throw a 4-5 year deal at him with a hit of around 4m. I believe he could make the transition to W and give Giroux and Vorachek a nasty ass shot on their line especially from the half boards and off side. He'd also be phenominal on th 2n PP unit which desperately needs help. Schenn and Coots will come along and we have plenty of other young talent to follow them, I just think we need to solve the revolving door on G's line to get back to the offense we were used to 2 season ago.

Further more I'm still hoping for a trade or 2, we have hungry young D-men who play mean. In my eyes having a team that's just flat out tough to play against through the whole roster with some skill up front makes for a very dangerous opponent and that's what I'm hoping the flyers are going for. Good old fashion blue collar hockey.

I was also wondering if people though an offer of Coburn, Read, Gusty and our 1st next year could land us Jones. That's a lot of NHL ready help right now(I'd consider swapping one of those guys for Hartnell even though I love the goofy bastard).

No chance Nashville trades Jones now. They got the absolute steal of the draft. They can be patient w Jones in developing him. However, in about 3-4 years down the road, don't be surprised to see Webber being shopped around.

i doubt it, but i wouldn't want to do that anyway.. dont forget, eric johnson was also a 'cant miss, bonafide #1 dman prospect' and he's just a top 4 guy now.. i'm all for drafting well and having draft picks, but trade proving commodities for unproven prospects is a risky behavior.. especially giving up 3 NHL'ers and a 1st round pick for 1 prospect.. it's a little less risky when you trade 1 proven guy for 2 prospects (richards/carter deals)

Good point, maybe we can swing a Coburn for Nurse deal straight up. I just want d-men to fill our system and actually have some time to develop.

lets get back to lecavalier here. my opinion is that i would like to have him here but i don't want the flyers to kid themselves and think they can make him a wing. it is a pet pieve of mine that they think this works, it really has not worked for us ever, and they have literally tried it with every center we have had in the last 10 years. centers need the puck on their sticks.

if you sign lecavalier somebody has to go wing, i guess (if i was forced) i would lean towards schenn. this is pending no moves are made:

voracek giroux hartnell
read lecav schenn
simmonds cout laughton (cout and laughton could switch here)
rinaldo talbot rosehill

lol 6 natural centers out of 12 forwards. i guess what i am getting at is i think that signing lecavalier makes trading couts/schenn/laughton a major possibility. but i don't know if 4 mil is going to get it done even for 4-5 years, i think way too many teams are interested in him.

I said this before and I'll say it again. My gut tells we are going to land Vinny. However, this is the part that's going to piss me off more than ever in regard to Homer. We've seen this many times before. I think Vinny will get his 5 year at 5-5.5 per? Oh w a NMC, the Homer signature to everything these days. I don't want this... I like Vinny but not at this. You all know this will happen.

Would any of you be opposed to Filppola? I may have butchered the name, but I think you all know who I'm talking about? Much cheaper than Vinny and I think he is younger? Who cares about the log jam of centers:) he may be a good fit in Lavi's system IMO?

definitely not opposed to filpula (not sure that's the right spelling either haha).. i think he can play any forward position and is a decent 2nd line option, good 3rd line option

I've been reading here and there that the Flyers are showing interest in Clarkson. Prob makes more sense than Vinny...even though I like him.

i like clarkson a lot.. i really think he'd bring a great dimension to the team.. however, i think he's gunna get PAID.. he had a great year this past year.. he's really a 3rd line type guy, not a top 6 foward, but i think he's gunna get paid like a top 6 forward

it would be similar to if the flyers had to resign talbot after his breakout season last year

How would you compare Clarkson to...say Hartnell? Do you also think Hartnell is a third line guy?

I'd love to have Clarkson ..... but I think he's going to command much more than we're willing to spend.

Clarkson would be like having two Hartnells', no? I still like the idea of Filppula.. There are no rumors around him, therefore, I like our chances:) lol. I'm thinking cheaper bc we still need a goalie and some extra money to extend G.

Kinda, but we need wingers not centers.

i think hartnell has a lot more offensive ability than clarkson and i think clarkson brings more grit.. whether or not the numbers back that up, is still to be determined haha.. offensively i liken clarkson to talbot

update w/ numbers:

hartnell has scored 20 or more goals 6 times, clarkson only once (this year likely would've been a 2nd)
