We all know about the efficient 50-40-90 mark set by the likes of Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki...but what about the mark that Lebron could potentially set this year?

He's currently shooting 61 % from the field, 49 % from 3 and 80 % from ft

Those are insane numbers. You thought last year Lebron might have peaked with 56-40-75 but each off season he reminds us that he's going to work on his game and get better and critics scoff at him...low and behold here he is again improving his efficiency

If Bron maintains this and CP3 maintains his 20 ppg 12 ast pace...which season is more impressive and deserving of mvp?

More like 60-50-80. He improves every year, it is insane to think about. A guy that handles the ball the majority of the time shooting 60%.

Just 4 days ago it seems CP3 is everyone's favorite for MVP...since then not much has changed in the 2 games they each have played...

But Lebron, it is not close. his usage % is higher, his PER is 3 points higher, his TS% is 12% higher he is averaging 6.6 assists to CP3s 12. Both have 5 boards.

Adding assists and PPG together CP3 is responsible for at least 43 points and LBJ is responsible for 39.

I still take LBJ, I think his assists will increase a little throughout the year and LBJ looks like an artist on the floor, just painting it with buckets. In years past he looked much more robotic.

I also think CP3s stats will come down a bit. Doc deserves COY though.

That is just on offense where I think it is universal that LBJ is the better defender.

Voter fatigue is going to have a really tough time having momentum this year if LBJ is playing like this.

His D has seemed less intense this year though.

That being said both of them need to keep these numbers for a really long season.

Others:

I think Love will prove to be out of the conversation the more he faces other good teams through out the season and their record will be a low play off seed. I think KD is out of it too with his numbers worse than last year. We will see with Harden, Aldridge/George won't have the numbers...and likely the record come playoff time to be a MVP contender.

Ryan Anderson

Shooting 52 % from the field, 54 % from 3 (making 3.5 threes a game), and 100% from the stripe

I agree that CP3's numbers will go down. From watching the games, it seems like CP3 has to work so hard every night to maintain those numbers whereas Lebron is effortlessly putting up 26 ppg with the insane shooting percentages.

Love, he's a great fantasy basketball mvp candidate but real life mvp...I don't think he'll ever win over the likes of Lebron, Durant, Paul George, CP3, etc

Speaking of Paul George and Durant. George has taken that "leap" closer to elite status but his numbers don't even come close to Lebron's worst years. And Durant...he will win it one of these years...I like what he's done with his game...he's getting to the line more and he's up to 5 ast a game now

But with Lebron playing at this insane level it's really his award to lose

I think anthony davis gets an MVP before Durant. Durant despite getting to the line more his shooting has slipped (obviously really hard to maintain 50-40-90 but I was hoping). Davis's PER is 28.62, he just needs to score more and he could get 25-12 automatically. Add that to his 4 blocks he is averaging this season, you have a machine.

And New Orleans has him locked up through 2015-16...... paying him less than 9mil per year.

Wesley Matthews even off a 6-14(3-9 game) is also shooting 56%(51%) himself so far

Those rookie contracts are great for building through the draft. By the time they start to cost money you know if they are keepers or not, and LOL NO has team options 14/15 and 15/16.

A lot of strong players this year, the talent is developing.
