Think it's teams getting smarter. Lawson has never put up stats just the occasional good game or stretch, Franklin cost himself a contract by holding out, getting fat, playing his way into shape and just being pretty good, and Brown is coming off another injury.

I'm actually a bit saddened about this move. Look, I know Lawson did some pass rushing at NC State but by looking at the film it was flat out obvious the guy is more of a coverage LB. With Clements and possibly Goldson leaving, the Niners are going to need some coverage skilled players on defense. I'm not feeling Willis covering opposing TE's because he's not that good at it and who else is there?

This mass exodus of players on defense is giving me the heebie jeebies.
