If he cant win a starting position on our Oline then the signing is a total joke. So he gets paid b/c he is young. Doesn't talent matter? Is he really an upgrade over Chester talent wise?

If he can't win a starting job, then I agree with you. Anyone is an upgrade over Chester.

you guys constantly miss the point. The front office wanted him back at cheap money. It said it in the article. Too give me that deal RIGHT NOW is crazy. Every football website said it was an overpay.

No...you miss the point. 4 mil/season is relatively cheap for a starting G in their prime. Again...how is it different than Schwartz not being resigned by KC?

What do you believe Cleveland meant by cheap? I'm curious.

And why is that? Maybe because Shanahan signed Chester to a huge contract? That might be tough to explain to the Owner that you have this guy making $6M/year, but you want to start a 2nd year guy.......and this shit happens all the time in this league.

Whoa. 6mil a year? Chester signed a 5 yr 20 mil contract in 2011. I thought he made 3-4 mil last season and he is set to make 3mil this year and 3.5 mil in 2015.

What huge contract jy19?

That's his base contract. Then he has performance bonuses of almost 500K that hit in years 3-5 that will bring him up, as well as the prorated portion of his guaranteed. It is less that $6M, but it could be as much as $5M that they have committed to him.

I think he is cheap for this year and next. If they upgrade in talent im all for it. But this guy from Cle will be given the job if they cut Chester or there will be a camp battle. I thought Gettis was supposed to succeed Chester?

I actually hope Gettis does. I expect Chester will be cut this year. If Ribeye or Gettis can break into the starting lineup, that's just gravy for us because we now have an experienced backup which we will need.

So how do you know that this contract is not cheap?

What if they wanted to pay him 3 million...are we still getting ripped off?

You see...you don't have the facts. You bring nonsense from some of the fans in Cleveland and try to pass them off as fact. How do you know they just didn't ask the most uneducated fans in Cleveland?

Im saying you cant justify the contract number for the talent. Cle knew he wasn't a good player and they chose not to sign him to a deal the Skins gave him. If they thought he was a good player why would they let a young player leave?
