Newton had a great game last week; but what's with the Newton love this week? He's being talked about like he played like Tom Brady against the Packers. THE DUDE HAD 3 INTERCEPTIONS!!!

This is like the old Favre hype. Nobody threw 3 picks in a game with more greatness than Favre.

It is probably because he threw for over 400 again and they weren't blown out.

I wonder what happens when he gets better weapons in the passing game. Imagine Blackmon and Smith. That would be entertaining.

Amazing how throwing for over 400 yards while throwing 3 picks is a good game if you're Cam Newton.

It's his SECOND career start against the Superbowl Champs. He also led the Panthers in rushing and had a rushing TD. Considering the circumstances, it was a pretty decent performance, and this is coming from quite possibly the biggest Newton sceptic.

I think there's a big difference between a good game and a good game for a rookie.

I'm pretty sure when people say that Newton had a good game, they're taking into consideration the fact that he's a rookie.

That rookie part is why they are ignoring the 3 interceptions. Plus, when Woodson has two of them, they'll just shrug it off as... "Hey, it's Woodson picking off the rook, it's going to happen."

Don't be too harsh - the Panthers were within range of catching the Pack attack. Despite 3 INT's, he had a pretty decent performance.

dude, c'mon

i was one the huge cam newton critics and he is proving me wrong. Alot more so then Sam Bradford. This is what you want to see in a rookie. Making huge plays but you gotta know theres going to be a few bumps(int's) No way can you expect more from the guy

This week? If you're citing the Cardinals game you're correct. But 3 picks = a terrible game.

I don't think anyone should expect more from him. I didn't. I'm simply stating that he played like a rookie today, and he's being hailed as the next Peyton Manning because he had a bunch of passing yards.

It would be a career game for some other first round pick. He is leading a one dimensional offense on a team that won one game last week. Newton was the first QB to ever throw for 400 yards in each of the first two games of the season and he did it as a rookie!

I'm still not convinced, all though he is doing far better than i would of ever thought possible. If he's still putting up solid numbers in week 4, then ok.

Hey, I can't seem to find the stories about how good Andy Dalton is. You know: the guy who's the 8th rated passer in the NFL and haz ZERO interceptions in 2 games. The guy who's completing 66%of his passes so far. Where are the stories titled, "This kid is good?" I can't seem to find 'em.

What records has he broken?

What records has he broken?

He broke the record for most ignored rookie QB. And he's out-played the most hyped one in a long time.

But he didn't break any records like Newton did and he has less yards on the year than Newton has in either game. Newton has been exciting. Nothing is wrong with Daulton's good performances but you surely must see why record breaking performances get more hype.

As far as hype, I am not sure that Newton has been hyped as much as Tebow was.

More yards doesn't equal better play. You should know that.

I see exactly why it's getting hype. I'm just poining out how stupid it is. It's like if you go into the sports media 95% of the time it's required you get a lobotomy first. Newton had 1 good game & 1 bad game with 2 losses. Dalton's had 2 good games & he's 1-1. Yet nary a mention of his name will you find because Newton is more "exciting."

College level? True. Pro'? Not even close (and deservedly so; Tebow is the worst QB in the NFL or close to it).
