Land Rover is a pile of shit
I wouldn't spend a nickel on a kraut car.Oh yeah, I remember now. There was a lot of talk about putting a BMW engine in the Land Rover Discovery to replace the ancient, shitty Buick engine that had been in it forever.
Some of the Tata shit is a real trip.

I'd buy one of those Harley Davidson's made in India before I sent a nickel to Berlin. I'm not buying anything German if I can help it.Tata Motors is India...and apparently many share your opinion!

Are getting ready to head out to the dealership. I hope they have one for the wife to drive.
Alright, we're home. The final decision is : She hates car shopping and decided her Sentra is good enough for now.
Cheap as fuck...?
Even if the LR proves reliable, even basic maintenance is more expensive.
I too have been researching some Land Rover Range Rover Sports for the wife....Up keep is expensive.
Go with a Ford or Lincoln.
My wife has a '15 GC Summit now. Great vehicle.
My wife's 2016 Toyota Sienna is a piece-of-shit! Even the start button only works about 90% of the time. I'll never understand why people like the boring and lame.
Have her test drive a top of the line, slightly used Grand Cherokee with the best interior and THEN go test drive a RRover. You have to give a woman what she asks for! The best you can do is make better suggestions under the guise of hers being a great idea.
She'll prefer the GC and you'll be in one for 25 grand instead of a foreign money pit.
"The price isn't important, honey...get what you really think you'll like best."

Rides nice, handles nice.
Great power, decent gas mileage.
Usable space, but not to big.
Handsome, not ostentatious.
Comfortable, luxurious and all the toys.
Mostly reliable...New water pump at 42k, still smell anti-freeze, service 4 wheel drive system, service traction control, new drive engagement motor, all by 44k.
We are less than impressed after our last....4 were trouble free.
'06 Lincoln LS was traded fro the Jeep at 85k, I had just put new coils on. That was it.
'93 SHO Taurus was sold with 135k, clutch and shocks were the only maintenance items.
'90 Escort was starting to puke oil back into the intake at 125k
'90 Chevy 1500 had 225k and needed an EGR valve on the 305.
'01 Explorer is at 212k now and I did alternator and water pump in the last 2 years.
And my '04 F-150 has 180k and it has needed an alternator.
But I think water pumps n such go because of the salt corrosion up there.
I'm in Tennessee...No salt corrosion from road treatment or ocean spray.
Ahhh...was looking at your Boston icons. I'm surprised that water pump croaked then. It probably had a mfg defect.
Ford
The End
She drove a Nissan Xterra that she kind of liked. Doesn't like the looks of the Cherokee, too soccer mom-ish. She wants something that looks like a rugged utility vehicle. She almost went for a Rubicon that was loaded with all the off road crap she'll never need. I would have been alright with that one.
She's kind of a redneck. I think it's sexy....
My family and I have had nothing but problems with Fords. I will never own another one.
Ah, the old footjob cruiser. Not sure there's been an uglier SUV produced aside from the Aztec imo.
