Maybe this guy will be the next Lakers project that we will eventually see on the court. Certainly is tall and the Lakers are intimating that he may be their second round pick this year. Go Mamadou!

Mamadou N'Diaye to work out for Lakers

I've seen him play a few times. Dude would be a project with a capital P. I think he has some potential, but he needs to build up some muscle/gain some weight and needs to work on his footwork and agility.

I wouldn't want to see the Lakers waste their 2nd round draft pick on him. I could though, see them signing him as an undrafted free agent and having him spend 2-3 years in the D-League and playing in the summer league.

Not sure he'll ever develop into much, but having a 7'5" guy on the end of the bench ala Chuck Nevitt wouldn't be the worst thing. I guarantee that he'd quickly become a fan favorite.

Here is yet another media speculative author deciding for the Lakers who they should ante-up for in FA.

Los Angeles Lakers: 5 Potential 2016 NBA Free Agency Targets

Expect to see A LOT of those. No matter how good or bad the Lakers are, they attract attention and clicks. I will say though, that is a very solid list. The only one that I think is even questionable would be Ryan Anderson and even he would be a good addition at the right price. He could be what the Lakers have been hoping Ryan Kelly would become.

Agreed, those are quality suggestions. I just don't want to see DeRozan's name keep popping up. I don't like that fit at all, given his weakness on the perimeter.

I hope the Lakers don't do something stupid just because they think this draft is weak and thin. Some of these people they are interviewing makes little sense in light of what Luke is bringing to the table. IMO they need to keep the pick, take more young talent and then bring in some FAs who make sense and not get caught up in the hype.

Yeah, I think they are just trying to cover all of their bases. So they are interviewing anyone they may have interest in depending on how things shake out.

If they get to keep the top 3 pick, then the #32 pick becomes less important and they can afford to take a shot by drafting a project like Maker. If they don't get to keep that pick, then I think that second rounder becomes a little more important and they would need to see if they can find another Clarkson or Nance.

Everything indicates the Lakers will trade the pick, if they keep it

Meh, I don't put a lot into that. It's just media speculation. I heard where Mitch was asked about trading the pick and he said: "What pick? We have to get a pick first."

I don't think there is any question that the Lakers will listen to any and all offers for the pick, but I think it would require a top level player (like Butler or PG13) and maybe a future pick as well.

I also think that if they get the #1 or #2 pick, they will keep it. If it's #3, then I think they will be more likely to trade it.

I agree if they get the #1 or 2, keep the pick. I like Simmons or Ingram.

Like I stated. I am trusting Mitch to do the right thing for the continued progression of the Lakers out of the abyss they are in and Luke Walton was a great start. Now they need to revamp some of the rosters spots and continue to bring in young talent and a few veterans that are a good fit.

I like what Mitch had to say about the situation. He said that, as of now, the Lakers are planning the off-season as if they aren't going to have the pick.

He said this about what they have going into FA:

We did not have as much to sell as we do this year. We have more talent on the court to convince free agents that it might be a good place to come play. A year ago, we had enough money for one (max) player. This year, we have enough for multiple players. That doesn't mean we're going to have the inside track to any one particular free agent. There will be a lot of teams with the ability to add one player.

Mitch on allowing FA's input on who else they target to entice them to come to LA:

Free agents may look at us and they say 'Well, I like the group you have and who else are going to get this summer with me?' We have the ability to do that. So we could quickly go from a team that's young to a team that's young and has some veterans and hopefully can win a bunch of games. But that's going to take some luck and a lot of hard work.
