I don't respect anyone until they've earned it. Doesn't always take much to earn respect in some cases, but assuming everyone deserves respect is how you get walked all over...

I have been around a lot of people in my years, most good some bad, but give everyone the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong. Once trust is broken, then it's very hard to earn back. I always treat everybody with the same respect be it the president, pro athlete, actor or janitor, makes no difference to me. Most often than not it will be the janitor that is trying to save your life if your choking on something or have a heart attack, everybody puts their pants on one leg at a time
