I'm not as worried with Warford. Manny would be fine for a game or two. With a high ankle sprain, I would rather him be 100% than seeing him push it be gone for games 2,3, and 4.

Agreed. Between Manny and Boggs we have good depth on the interior.

You guys counting on LT starting week 1? Ricky Jean-Francsomething took him to school last week, darting by him np for a big sack. I'm not sure you can pen him in as a week 1 starter, injury to Warford or not.

I'm aware that the guys on the other side of the ball are paid to get to the QB. Sometimes they succeed and most times they don't. Whether him, Manny or Roary start at LG... It's a helluva lot better than Sims.

He got beat a few times. Which I expect to happen. I seriously doubt he will not give up a some sacks. However I doubt he will be a turnstile all season.

I don't know what to expect. Oline and Dline look like huge question marks right now. Especially the interiors.

I just saw that Sims announced his retirement. So the interior does have that going for them.

Not before Mayhew tried to bring him back of course (Sims chose retirement over the Lions). I swear Mayhew truly wanted Nelson Agholor in the draft.

I didn't know that MM offered him a contract. Must of missed that news somewhere.

There was talk of him getting offered very late in the process. I'm guessing they offered him some type of veteran minimum (which I would be fine with him getting paid shit to be a back up).

The Lions are also making some progress on one of their holes for this season, too. Mayhew said Friday the Lions offered a contract to left guard Rob Sims, but he has yet to hear back from Sims’ agent.

"We’ve had some discussions with Rob," Mayhew said. "I really don’t know the answer to that. I spoke to his agent about three weeks ago. We had an offer out to him and that’s kind of where we are right now, going to have to wait and see what happens."

Sims would get cut even if we signed him. He is not as good as what we have to even be a backup. As far as him retiring, he pretty much did that mid season last year. Unfortunately, we still had to roll him out there and still pay him. Everyone knew he was done including himself.

'Zactly. He'd be well behind both Manny and Boggs if we had signed him to compete to be a back-up, imo...

TBH once we made the trade for Manny and drafted LT, he was out anyway.

I just mentioned on another thread, but I see us potentially grabbing another tackle to back up Waddle and Lucas, with Robinson heading to the practice squad...
